In addition to the ESPN deal, CBS Sports Network will carry up to 12 football and 12 basketball games per year.

Also: At the Cleveland Bobcat Caravan last night, I asked about getting the ESPN upgrades. Sounds like we're another year away as the university works on securing more funding for the project.

Just saw that too. I wonder which of our October Saturday games will be telecast since we don't have any Thursday or Friday games scheduled.

So this is in addition to ESPN? The release I read made it sound like this was signed through ESPN. These are games in addition to what ESPN will show, right? If so, this is huge. More TV games. Does CBS have an online portal similar to ESPN?

It sounds like it's in addition to. ESPN has the MAC really only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during November and the day after T-day. Early on, there's very little they're doing with the MAC. And it sounds like the games will be on the satellite/cable channel instead of any web portal. This should be a big plus for the MAC.

I think CBS has been tinkering with a web portal, but I don't think they have it up and running except to air what's already on their TV feed. I think they were doing some during the NCAA tourney.

I heard a rumor about a month ago that ESPN was shopping around it MAC Mid Week package to another network for sublicencing. I thought that would be bad news because it would mean the ESPN2 football games that we so dearly love would be moving to a lessor known network like CBS Sports Net with other Tuesday and Wednesday night games remaining on ESPNU or picked up by ESPN3. That is not the case with this release as its going to be a mix of Saturday and Thursday games shown on CBSSN so its a win for the conference. These are games that could be Homecoming at Ohio or the BG/Toledo rivalry game in front of packed houses that will make the league look good. The basketball games were going to be a plus no matter what since there is so little TV coverage compared to the number of games. The new model for the mid major conferences looks to be a primary deal with ESPN and then sublicense to CBS Sports or or NBS Sports which with less viewership don't want to compete head on with ESPN.

Its in addition to ESPN and CBS is paying ESPN for them. Huge for Ohio because some of the most attractive conference games are at Peden and the Convo. Anything ESPN doesn't want for ESPN2 or ESPNU or has a scheduling conflict can be picked up. Think Ohio-Akron and Ohio-Miami games in basketball and football. Games have nice production on CBS Sports.

Since CBSSN also has a deal with CUSA, I can see them going for the T'erd game on 9/12. It would have to be a noon start; they already have Minn-Colo St at 3:30 and another game at 7:00 that day. They've already scheduled Fiami at WKU as part of the CUSA deal.

With only 3 Saturday games this year I somehow doubt Marshall-Ohio is one of them since that might be picked up by ESPN News.

I am expecting the games to be actual MAC games, not non-conference games. But as Wes said, the Marshall game could be on some TV network but I think non-conference games would be separate from this deal.

Could Western Michigan be one of these games?
