Named the men's hoops voice today: https://ohiobobcats.com/news/2024/10/4/mens-basketball-to...

Has a track record of calling multiple sports with Marshall, Appalachian League baseball, and the Motor Racing Network. I'd assume Marty would be available for the ESPN+ production if that is still its own separate thing.

Does anyone know if WOUB still does the women's games? Is it a student calling those?

I like Jason's work on MRN, which has to be one of the hardest broadcasts to sound good on because there are so many voices and unexpected interruptions for "trouble in turn two".

But can we talk about this press release? I think this one could be rock bottom.

What's wrong with the press release?

Welcome to Jason. I know I shouldn't let his status as a Marshall alum bother me, but it does. It really does.

Yeah, the PR is okay. Flows nicely. Dr. Drew R. Evarts wouldn't be happy with some of the capitalization decisions and the writer's apparent lack of an Associated Press Style Guide, but it's better than many I have seen from the department.

LOL

I've always wondered why we don't grow some more of our own talent? There was a time when Allie LaForce was doing sidelines and Brian Busch (voice of Michigan play-by-play) was on some of the calls. Garrett Downing (Baltimore Ravens Director of social media) was a sports reporter for WOUB.

The guys and gals that do racing on the radio, in my opinion, are some of the most impressive in sports broadcasting for that reason alone. The chemistry and teamwork they share is pretty neat when listening to a race.
