Hate to hear this since it's already the second time. Had a beer and was talking to Jeff when Chase tore it the fist time. He made a joke about how the one gene Chase got from him was his bad knees.

Damn. Same knee? 18 years old and already two ACL’s.

It seems silly at this point to try to continue playing basketball at any strenuous level. He's a walk on, not an NBA prospect. Stay healthy and get your degree and don't become crippled over a game that isn't going to pay your bills.

Yeah that will be a tough conversation to have with Dad. Maybe he can become a manager and eventually into coaching or something? I've never talked to Chase, but I bet that might be on his radar.

Tough situation for both Dad and Son. However, Dad had injury issues when he played, so he must know the reality of such. Father and son dynamics are always potentially complicated. Throw in the fact that Dad is your basketball coach too, and, Wow, there must be a lot of emotions at play here. I don't know either one of these men, but I hope that this all turns out positive for both of them.

Really tough break for Chase - but he's still going to get to spend time with his dad. He's also still going to be a great teammate from the bench, and on the bus etc. He will be missed in the weight room and practice court though.

Why is it silly to try and come back to play? It isn't the 1970's anymore... ACL surgeries are routine and you can get back relatively quick. He's in the best possible spot to recover and continue his career.
