I didn't see Sears mom at the Convo. Maybe Athens was a bit too far to travel for the home Games.
I believe she was at every game.
I distinctly remember Marty or Russ saying so on a broadcast.
The bigger question is whether or not she was wearing a necklace with a stuffed basketball.

I do wish him the best he was a Bobcat! But, I think he will have a tough go in the NBA. Too short to make those shots in the lane against NBA caliber Biggs. he certainly has improved his three point shooting though. And, being short, he will always be at a disadvantage whoever he is guarding.

Who is the shortest NBA player?

Jacob Gilyard (played with Memphis and Brooklyn this season) is generously listed at 5-8. He went undrafted out of Richmond and worked his way up and back down to and from the G-League.

I don't recall seeing anybody shorter this season in the NBA.

Gilyard was replaced in Memphis by Scotty Pippen Jr. (approx 6-2) as Morant's fill-in while out for the season injured. Pip just had a 24 point game vs Philadelphia so the gig as permanent backup PG is pretty much his now.

Mark declared for the draft today while maintaining his eligibility. Likely mid-late first round pick

Another year of eligibility left?

Mark Sears has to be 29 years old. Will the covid free years ever end?

If I were a player on the fence and heard "mid to late 1st round" it would scare me right back to college. I feel like 35 players get a "mid to late 1st round" estimation and a bunch of them end up in the 2nd round or undrafted.

He just turned 22, like most college seniors. There are some crazy situations with experience and age in the NCAA right now but Sears is not really one of them. Next season would only be his 5th after high school...not uncommon.

His mom is probably waiting to see if he would make more money playing another year at Alabama or if he would get a better offer in the NBA.

Exactly this.

Like I've said repeatedly, someone might take a flier on him late 1st, but he's likely a 2nd round pick. Which is non-guaranteed money.

Depends on if he bets on himself that he can fight for and make the tail end of an NBA roster vs. another year of cash at Alabama.

Alabama blog seems to think he's gonna head to Europe, even if he didn't get good NBA draft news.

I've seen a lot of ESPN talking heads comparing him to Jalen Brunson.

It will be interesting to see if he takes his Covid year and comes back for year #5.
Unless he finds a way to sneak into the end of the 1st round (highly unlikely) he def should come back another year. It won't hurt him. Depends on when he wants to start his career overseas vs how much he's making at Bama.
What that guy said.

Mark has to be 31 years old. I’ll be happy when this final Covid year goes away for eligibility purposes.

The 24-25 academic year is finally the last year of this nonsense. Well, except for those that had a redshirt year on top of a Covid year.

If you are a 2025 recruit, I have to imagine you got lucky at this random timing as an irregular amount of players are heading out next year with both 2020 recruits and 2021 recruits exhausting their eligibility.

Jay Bilas' Pre-Season All-American team is out...

Mark Sears is on the 1st team.

Bilas also thinks Sears will be NCAA Player of the Year.
