The TBT tournament has been pretty cool to watch on ESPN with lots of former college players teaming up to try and win 1,000,000. The Notre Dame Alumni team is a real cool concept that won last year. I'd love to see a Bobcats ALumni team enter next year. Borna...maybe make a few calls and you could be the coach. I'm sure we could get plenty of support on this board and exposure from the Athletics Department.

I love the idea. Shaun Stonerook has expressed interest in coaching such a group. There are usually 15 or so Bobcat Alums playing overseas, and Shaun is active with the American players group in FIBA - after a big career in Italy. He would be an ideal foundation for such a team...Some pretty good Bobcat Alums will be in the states next August. I'd hope the rest of this forum takes an interest, too!

PG - DJ
SG - Kellogg
SF - Freeman
PF - Harbut
C - Devaughn

I believe all of these guys are still playing at some level still and would be in good shape. I'm sure there are plenty of others too.

Any one know where Nick Kellogg is playing, how he's doing? He came on so strongly in his senior year.

He averaged 15.2 points per game for Club Batumi in Batumi, Republic of Georgia.

Here's all former Bobcats, as far as I can tell, playing internationally:

D.J. Cooper just signed with Krasny Oktybar in Russia.
Patrick Flomo signed with Crailsheim Merlins in Germany.
Tommy Freeman played last year for Glasgow Rocks in UK.
Reggie Keely played last year for KK Strumica in Macedonia.
Nick Kellogg played last year for Batumi in Germany.
Zach Natgzaam played for Toronto 3D in Canada.
Stevie Taylor signed to play for Fabriano in Italy.
Jerome Tillman played last year for Levanga Hokkaido in Japan.
Kenneth van Kempen played last year for Weert in Holland.
DeVaughn Washington played last year for Shinshu BW in Japan.
Leon Williams played last year for Santurce in Puerto Rico.

Others who have played in professionally in the last few years:
Ivo Baltic played in 2014 in Croatia.
Steve Esterkamp last played in 2014 in Germany.
Mychal Green played in 2014 in Luxembourg.
Jaivon Harris played in 2014 in Germany.
Terren Harbut played in 2013 in Germany.
Brandon Hunter played in 2013 in Uruguay.
Anthony Jones played in 2013 for Corpus Christi in the ABL.
James Bridgewater played in 2012 for San Francisco in the ABA.
Johnnie Jackson played in 2012 for Bluff City in the ABA.
Alexandros Liatsos played in 2012 in Cyprus.
Shaun Stonerook played in 2012 in Italy.
Armon Bassett played in 2011 in Israel.
Justin Orr played in 2011 in for the Columbus Crush of the UBA.

This is a really intriguing idea. I wonder if the financials could work to pull something like this off.

Players: If it was a 3-on-3 tourney, we'd need about 8 teams (24 players)

Funding: We'd need to pay their way here ($2,500 each?) --> $60,000

Grand prize: $30,000? ($10K each?)

Refs/jerseys/other costs: $10,000

So we're in for about $100,000 in event costs. I'd pay at least $10 to watch the games live. If 4,999 others agree. We'd have half of that covered. Some corporate sponsor should want in on this. We could stream it online and charge for the stream.

I'd love to watch these former Bobcats in action again.

Stunter....It is a 5-5 tournament and it is already something that is done. The pay day is 1 million for the winner....

I was wondering aloud if the Convo could host a tournament of Bobcat alums, per the headline of this post.

COULD or WOULD are the operative questions.

First, this is not an OU - Basketball - Project
Second, if there is a genuine interest on this board for this to happen, and I'm convinced a real competitive group could be assembled from Bobcat alums, it has to be viewed and managed as a project...Sponsors, determining player interest/availability, arranging a couple of high level scrimmages are all things that pop to mind immediately.

There's no admission fee, but requirements for community support and overall organization exist.

Best of the who can get teams together Big 10dozen vs the MAC. OHIO/The Convo would sure sell some seats! I bet thousands more than any Big10dozen, or any other league for that matter! Got my interest perked now.........

You guys are missing the point of the original poster. There's a massive basketball tournament (called The Basketball Tournament) that just finished up, I believe, the second annual tournament that they run.

Checkout the details: https://www.thetournament.com/about

There were nearly 100 teams that played for the million dollar prize this year, some of those teams are made up of alums of college teams. In this case the OP, I believe, is thinking that next year it'd be cool if there was a team of OHIO alums playing in "The Basketball Tournament". I agree, btw, that's a pretty cool idea.

Just as I felt would happen, this topic has apparently run its course - No posts on topic since the 9th...Ready for page 2 and virtual oblivion...Too bad enough interest couldn't be raised here...I'm here to say that I'd love to see this happen and would be willing to take a leadership role, if there's a critical mass of interest!
