Will there be another Bobcat Madness type event for hoops this year? Any word?

I don't know about that, but if you've seen the players' twitters in the last couple weeks, they have their intros picked out. Sam Frayer is a funny dude.

We will be hosting Bobcat Madness again this season. It will be held in conjunction with the football game vs. WMU on October 17.

Once that game time is announced (October 5), we will be announcing the time and details surrounding Bobcat Madness.

3:30pm after the WMU Game, which kicks at high noon. They certainly aren't leaving much time for a TV football game before hand.

Have to squeeze it in between football and volleyball at 7PM.

What do you mean that "they have their intros picked out"? I'm old school.

I'm guessing it's like walk-up music in baseball.

Never heard of it either but here's a link.

In college, intramurals were big at Muskingum and I remember listening to Deep Purple's "Child In Time" before heading over to the gym or out to the football field.

Thanks! I guess it is entertainment, so why not? In my day they would tell you to just play and forget about the tunes.

What actually happens at "Madness"?

got a 3.5 hour drive after the football game. Is it worth staying to watch. An inter-squad scrimmage would be interesting. Will that be featured?

From what I've gathered, it's about one hour or so long, so it won't get you home too much later.

It's from 3:30-4:30 p.m., according to the release, which says:

Bobcat Madness will feature introductions of the men's and women's teams, the women's team challenging the men's team to a three-point shooting contest, followed by a scrimmage by the men's team and a dunk contest.

I've found that I begin hallucinating iridescent creatures while listening to an inordinate amount of Nick Cave's music.

But there is MAC leading volleyball at 7; make it a big Bobcat day.

Lou needs to rest the vocal chords. That's a lot of agitation for one day.

We all need, after what transpired earlier across the street in Peden, a
positive report from "Madness." Feel free to embellish if necessary.

There were cool dunks and a 10-minute scrimmage with no defense. It was fun.

Meh event. Wouldn't exactly call it "madness". Random thoughts: Mike won the dunk contest but Jaaron had the best dunk with a one handed catch off a lob from the side of the backboard. Both of them are very springy. Doug Taylor is listed at 220 lbs, but that is a misprint; he is every bit as thick as Tony. Treg looks like he gained a little bit of weight. No one, man or woman, stood out in the three point shooting contest, not even Kenny. Kiyanna didn't compete for some reason. Gavin Block probably should probably never try dunking in a game.

They're smart to treat the scrimmage like the NBA All-Star game, but there is a lot of room for improvement to make this event more fun. They could do more to involve fans (half-court shot for a prize, fan/women's team/men's team shooting starz competition, etc.) or show players' personalities (freshman "talent" show).

There seems to be a new walk-on. Jaylin McDonald out of St. Ignatius. 6'6''ish and a decent athlete.

They were cold during the actual 3 pt contest (Kenny hit 8 in 30 seconds to win) - but interesting to me that the other 2 picked by SP were Dartis and Block. They were shooting pretty hot warming up -as were the women.

SP is hot on the young players. I liked what I saw for first look at a lot of them. I think we are going to see a deep bench. I think Block will get a lot of time. Dartis will also. Simmons is quick - real quick. Dozier looks the part. Taylor could turn into a beast.

SP told me he see 18-20 wins - sounds about right to me. I expect to see uptempo and a lot of ball movement. SP acknowledged defense has not yet been the priority, and needs work - not unexpected to me at this point in the development of the team this early stage of the year. The team vibe - well, there actually is a team vibe - and that's a Great thing to see.

Did bettercallSaul say anything about expecting us to be a lot better at the end of the year than the beginning?

I'd expect that to be the case. Hopefully, we are a very dangerous team by the time of the MAC tournament.

The Jaylin McDonald appearance surprised me. I usually assume the folks here with ears to the ground know about any additions but never saw him mentioned here.

Mike won the dunk contest on a dunk which did not involve touching the rim...IMO not really a dunk. But he and Simmons were both pretty impressive athletically.

Simmons looks to have extremely good court vision, even if it was a defenseless scrimmage. He looked like a much better distributor than we have been used to for the last two years.

Wadley just looks good, physically. Hopefully this can be a breakout year for him. Someone with his size and wingspan that runs the floor as well as he looked capable of running it Saturday could be a big factor.

Gollon, Dartis, and Block all look like pretty good shooters. Block has an inch or two on Gollon, shouldn't have a lot of trouble getting shots off over defenders.

I'd put money on Taylor outweighing Tony C. That's a big dude.
