Anyone have any insider info on if there will be webcasts for
home games this year @ ohiobobcats.com? From the lack of any info and
no indication on relative sites .. doesn't look like it.

Looking at the schedule I see some early games being picked up by TWC Ohio etc
but I dont see any mention of a webcast this year.

Its seems there has been a regression back to the 1990's of just trying to get
the radio feed.
Sad .. for a university that is supposed to have one of the top ranked and state of the art Radio and TV facilities we have the poorest
or no webcasting.

Ohio has webcasts... I just asked a question on another thread asking who will be calling the games because there were two different kids the past two years. I was informed Jake Hromada will be back this year to call the games. I watch/listen to volleyball as much as I can.

I'm sure the department will schedule the webcasts for us, as sometimes the audio feeds for the volleyball matches weren't added until the day of the match. Look for the webcasts to be added a day or two before the game, sometimes the department runs a little behind scheduling those, but they will eventually. Just trust that the events will be there to watch!

all Men's BBall home games are typically webcast here-

http://portal.stretchinternet.com/ohio /

Russ Eisenstein, the voice of the Bobcats, and Rob Cornelius are on the radio call that is synced with the video feed.

As part of the MAC's contract renewal last year with ESPN all MAC schools are required to upgrade their video broadcasts by the start of the 2017-18 season. Once a school has completed the upgrade every home game will be broadcast on ESPN3. This upgrade includes multiple camera angles, instant replay, and ESPN quality graphics, the approx cost is $2M per school. Each school also supplies its own on-air talent. Last year 3 schools- Buffalo Central Michigan and Northern Illinois completed the upgrade, if you have access to ESPN3 I recommend looking up one of their archived games for a look at the quality. It really is ESPN quality.

Starting this season Miami, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Toledo and Ball State will have their broadcasts up to speed and will be broadcast on ESPN3. That leaves only 4 schools- WMU, Akron, Kent St, and Ohio left to make the upgrade.

This season you will be able to watch all of the home games on the link above, and with the exception of Akron and Kent you will be able to watch all of the MAC away games on ESPN3. Wouldn't be surprised if ESPN picks up the Akron and Kent games anyways. The only road games in non conference play are the Paradise Jam Tournament games, which will be televised, and Cleveland St and St Bonnie.

Bottom line- you'll most likely to get to watch every Men's BBall game this season.

Does anyone still have the 800-number for the audiocast? I found that immensely helpful, if not old school, for being on the road outside of Athens and not using up data.

The number was (712) 432-7090, but it was not available last season. It is now a Haitian radio station. I liked it for syncing up the bobcat radio broadcasts with other TV/webcasts.

I've been thinking about the "on-air talent" portion of this deal. Once Ohio gets the gear set up they'll need someone to call the games. Theoretically couldn't Ohio just have Russ/Rob do this and sync the radio and webcast together like they already do? I'm wondering if it's part of the IMG contract that they can't also be ESPN announcers.

It appears that this 1st game is only on radio. I thought all home games LY were available in video format.
Something has changed. Anyone know what's happening here?

They will be webcasted, they have to be, or else Ohio is missing a HUGE portion of its audience.

As for the ESPN3 stuff, I don't see students handling the ESPN3 stuff with men's basketball. However, I have heard Jake state over the air that the volleyball matches will be on ESPN3, and he's going to be a part of it (they are looking for a new color commentator, the girl he's with is graduating). Not sure how he would know so soon? I'm sure the office has talked about it already. I see the students handling the women's sports, and professionals calling the men's stuff. Just my prediction.

No, that's just the Ohio IMG Radio Network Creole.
