The Chris Mullin era began at St. John's last night with a 90-58 loss to DIII school St. Thomas Aquinas College in an exhibition game. St. John's had 27 turnovers.

Meanwhile, Miami beat Ohio Mid-Western (a school that does not have a website, a school that is apparently a block away from my high school but I never heard of them) by 66 last night.

We wish former Ohio commit and Tennessee transfer Tariq Owens all the best in his future endeavors at St. John's.

Or the school that he goes to after St. John's.

Great comment about Mullin in the article I read about the game.
"It's like he had never coached a game before in his life."

This fascinates me. Can you imagine if he seriously cannot coach and they're stuck with him for a season. They'd have to hire a secret head coach to actually coach the team while he just wore a suit and barked out nonsense along the sideline.

I remember reading about the work he and his staff had done in recruiting, and thought they'd eventually round into shape. It seemed that he hired a number of experienced assistants, so you'd think they'll eventually be alright.

Ohio Midwestern's football team had a website last year. They played a whole slated of Division III and NAIA junior varsity teams:

Miami finally found someone that couldn't embarrass them to start the season.

Apparently Ohio Midwestern has a grand total of 140 students...

Ohio Midwestern is the Yale of schools with fewer than 200 students.

Tariq Owens just won't take a hint, he is not high major material. Why would he sentence himself to the bench?

We found a team that McKinney doesn't think warrants fear and respect! This is amazing.

I heard Ohio-Midwestern is giving him serious consideration.

I think this is the school for him
http://www.unoh.edu
/. They actually do have a basketball team. In fact, I had never heard of this place until I saw a basketball game between them and another school I'd never heard of from an adjoining state a few years ago when I was channel surfing. Ohio does seem to have an unusual number of small "under the radar" schools, some of which are proprietary.

UNOH's automotive technology program is really well-respected across the country. And if you want to work for Nascar, it's a good place to start.

Reading some comments on the Zips board it sounds like Akron looked pretty impressive in their exhibition.

WHich is why they brought in Chris Holtmann to hold Brandon Miller's hand at butler. The unknowns are not so bad when you anticipate them. Hopefully, the assts at St Johns are as talented. Didn't one of Hoiberg's guys go back home there or something?
