I like they took a picture of section 110 for the story's photo.

I know it's been asked before, but is it know if they are going to make old seats available for fans to purchase?

I think I read no somewhere, because the seats had to be removed in rows and not individual seats.

The number of fixed seats is only 11,908 according to the press release. What is the new capacity of the Convo?

Capacity should be the same shouldn't it? I doubt they are accounting for the student section.

The lower student section (O Zone & band) doesn't have seats they have bleachers so that 11,908 "seats replaced" wouldn't factor in that area. No seats to replace there. Same for Bobcat Black seats. Those are "seats" but I don't think they were the seats replaced here. Same for the people sitting in the temporary bleachers they put up for some games on the baseline. Same for media row... Or up in that skybox. Etc...

I took the time to read the article... Crazy thought, I know!

I think the key word is "fixed seats." 11,908 fixed seats in the Convo The article also mentioned an additional 416 non-chairback O Zone seats which is obviously the bleachers. That would put us at 12,324. Then you factor in the other areas I mentioned in my last post... Baseline bleachers, Bobcat Black, skybox, press row. For official capacity, don't they even factor in all the players, cheerleaders, refs and coaches???

The article said: "The project will increase the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) seating capacity." Does that just mean more seats are accessible that qualify with ADA but totals remain the same? I could believe that, with the addition of handrails.

Seems like an opportunity missed for a little extra revenue in my opinion. I guarantee many people know people who could make something work to mount seats for a "man cave".

I thought I've read in the past that listed capacity is 13,080. I think I also saw it on one of those fire marshall "capacity of this building is" labels near my section in the tunnel near 229 or 230.

They welcomed people to contact them about entire rows at the Caravans this year, but they did say that all seats only game in entire, connected rows that mount on the face of the step behind them. You'd need a lot of space and a long wall in your cave to make that work!

Unless you're like me, and you know someone who is a welder and metal worker who could help modify entire rows, or create brackets. I have to imagine I'm not alone with a little outside the box thinking on this?

I think there are some locations next to concourse entry areas and steps and things like that where they are fewer seats in rows. It seems to me there are a few spots with maybe as few as two seats. Also, I think the rows at the top corners are very short. But perhaps those smaller rows are accounted for already.

Speaking of seats I noticed in today's bobcat club newsletter that their are still some black seats available. Not sure what to read into that.

I didn't renew my Black seats. Only went to one game last year and that's an expensive price-per-game. Moved to Gold this year.

The pull OT bleachers behind the team benches are not in that 11k figure as they are not fixed seats. The two sides are roughly 1,300 seats.

It is interesting to me (and, of course, it isn't interesting at all in this case) that such an esteemed (self) expert only attended one game. Also renounces..though I understand the economics.

The guy had a 3 hour drive each way to watch a mess and a train wreck. It was tough for us that live in Athens to make the "trip" on some occasions last year.

The individual game tickets are online at Ohiobobcats.com. One side has the risers which account for 416 seats. The other side if you buy a ticket there appears to have the same seats as the 100 level. They only have 77 seats per section and at 4 sections that is 308 seats. If they aren't included in the totals as you claim that puts the capacity at 12,632 not the 12,324 The Optimist is listing. There are 64 Bobcat Black seats. Going with the 12,324 and the Bobcat Black that's 12,388. With the Alden Suite, Rohr Room scorers tables you could round it up to 12,500 for basketball. The very top row in the Convo has 444 seats with about 20 missing from the top row. Together that makes 464 and if the previous top row was removed taking the 12,632 number that equals 13,080 the official listed capacity.

Much Like the attendance figures that are announced at a game, I am sure the actual capacity is made up and can vary depending on how you count it.

I think the capacity of The Convo has been listed at 13,080 long before the Bobcat Black seats existed.

Looks like the new capacity is listed at 13,101.

I noted that when I was in there. I wonder where the extra 21 seats came from? :)
