While having a true backup PG would be ideal, everything else is in place. This is going to be one helluva a season to watch. #SaulBall

TOS & Sonny T forced to run point will always be reminders to have enough PGs.

It seems that on any given night, different people are stepping up to make statement games or have a serious impact on the game. I compared the number of double-digit scorers between last year and this year. So far, through 4 games, we've had 7 DIFFERENT guys with 10 or more points. When comparing to last season, it took 9 games to have 7 guys score 10 or more. Not sure what it means exactly, but it cant be a bad thing...

Having a point guard who attacks and gets to line is huge. Simmons has a whopping 45 free throw attempts in four games. He is getting to line which translates into points and it also gets the team into the bonus early and gets the other team into foul trouble. Ohio is also 79% from the line. Bobcats really are making teams pay when they foul them.

COngrats KK...FTs are a sign of focus/concentration/practice. Funny that it goes down close to 30 players perfect from the line. Small sample so we will see. Rob Robbins that played for Ball State went his entire senior HS year till he missed one in the last game of the season. I love this stat. 15 feet/10 feet high. ALways the same. It's all about repeating the motion. Thomas Amberry was my fave to listen to him talk about shooting them

I'd add confidence to that list of focus/concentration/practice. Free throws and putting are very similar. If inside 20 feet, I believe I can make every putt on the green. Same with free throw shooting.

As a TEAM, we are T-14 in FT% in the country at .789 and 9th in FT made. Of the top 25 for FT made, only Vermont has a higher %.

To add to that, Jaaron Simmons is T-4 in the country in FT made at 36, hitting on 80% (36-45).

TOS & Sonny T forced to run point will always be reminders to have enough PGs.

I couldn't agree more. Those TOS teams would have been even better if he'd been able to recruit and KEEP a couple decent PGs. That's exactly why I've been harping about finding one with the last remaining scholly for 16-17. I already love Simmons, but missing him for a couple games for any reason would be very difficult.

Those TOS teams with Sonny and Fears had some depth and pressed the hell out of teams with pretty good success. I think we have size, athletic ability and depth to replicate that at points during the game but haven't seen it much in 1+ years of Saulball. Last year I think the depth was limited, but this year there seems to be a litany of guys who can step up and play big minutes. Anyone have any perspective on this?

Just goes to show how important the PG position is. You can have four great players and have "it" (sorry, Andy Katz), but if you don't have the right guy pulling the trigger you aren't going anywhere in March.

I'm not sure that the press is Saul's approach on defense.
