I hope we get throttled, it will be a better learning experience.

So you'd rather lose by 40 than win?

agreed. Why is losing by many better than being hard in a game and battling to stay in it a better learning experience? I suspect there is a reason, flawed or not for this assertions, just not sure of the logic or the application. I have never heard any coach say "I know you keep wanting to battle back but if you are losing just pack it in and lose huge"......well.....save for one who wanted to leave the Sprint Center and get on the plane for Hawaii

I've got to think Perimeter was being sarcastic.

We need to think positive and win, getting throttled is not an option. Be Bobcat Strong.

I said nothing of the final score, I want them to dominate us, overwhelm us, knock us down, to see how we respond to it both during the game and afterwards. The final score will depend in part on our reaction.

I think John Groce just hacked perimeterpost's account. I always got the impression that part of Groce was okay with getting smacked early in the season if it could provide a teaching moment that paid off in February/March.

He thinks we will lose, so he is justifying the loss before the players line up. If we were to lose by eight, he would be walking on the moon. I bet the players and the coaches want to win so let's get behind them and not let fear dominate us. When we almost beat NC in the sweet 16, everybody said we would get crushed, but we were a couple missed free throws away from advancing. A win against Tulsa helps us if we need an at large bid. Go Cats

I did not see the Tulsa/Witchita State game but know people who were at the game and have followed both teams for years. Their report is that the Witchita State team that played Tulsa Monday night was not the same team that played last year. Whether Witchita State was having an off night or they are down this year, who knows? However, I think the Cats can win if they show-up and play. Also noted was the fact that Tulsa has 9 seniors on the team.

Former coach at Tulsa was Danny Manning, he is now at Wake Forest

I would guess he brought some good kids to Tulsa

I'm curious to know more. WSU returns Van Fleet and Ron Baker, and still has a really nice roster. Tulsa is no joke. Even playing well against them and losing is a measuring stick for where this Ohio team is.

The Shockers have one of the best, if not the best 1-2 punch at guard in the country, with a solid group returning inside. Tulsa must be very good and playing well to get a win over a team that is picked to win their league and make it back to the Dance. Win or lose it will be a good experience for our young team to get tested like this early in season.

From reading the game story it sounds like Van Vleet has ankle and hamstring issues which have really slowed him. But they still have a very good roster and team. That's a big win for Tulsa. That being said, this is a good game for us. They have some excellent guards that could give us fits.

On the bright side, even if we lose the result will be reversed in a few years after Haith does what he does.
