IOWA putting on a clinic on the road. Blowing the Cyclones out in front of a full house. Amazing execution

Iowa State pulls out that Hilton magic and battles back to win that ....finally lead under 30 secs.....that was awesome. man o man.

that was something. Now there is a reason to storm the court. Classic.

I always root for ISU against U of I. Not sure exactly why. Maybe it's because OHIO has played them more often than Iowa in both football and basketball. Or, maybe it's because I think they have the coolest nickname in college athletics -- The Cyclones. It's so amorous that they had to make their mascot, Cy the Cardinal, because they couldn't figure out how to make a cyclone costume.

With Hilton Coliseum singing "Sweet Caroline" from the floor. Brilliant stuff.

I watched and enjoyed the game immensely. Didn't care who won. You are a much more knowledgeable observer than I, but here's my take, in particular on the 2nd half. While the temptation is to say that IA choked, it looked much more ISU ramping up its D that fueled the comeback.

The announcers kept citing last season's ISU comeback against OK, and that added drama to last night's comeback effort.

Oh, and it seemed apparent that one could genuinely say that ISU had a 6th man in the Hilton crowd.

I'll add, if you believe in the 6th man effect, and want to see great student involvement and enthusiasm, read #HiltonMagic via Twitter from last night. Or, #HiltonMagicIsReal.

I'm biased, for sure, but the 2-3 times a week involvement granted to college basketball teams and students seems so much more exciting when this sort of game happens.

Iowa did not choke....like the Oklahoma game last year and some of the Big 8 (now 12) the Clones are just one of those teams that does not give up ....and the fans do not give up on....till the last possible second of reality sets in....

I thought the scoring in the first quarter was a tribute to Iowa execution. THe Ia St. locker room adjustments paid off defensively as he had 30 in the first half and 2 in the second. Iowa is one of those teams I have watched since the days of BJ Amrmstrong and was happy to see up close in an NIT game a couple of years back at UVA while wisiting jefferson's Monticello. McCaffrey is a good coach and has been the first solid guy since Dr Tom Davis left the program (Keno's dad). That said it was fun to see him shake his head as the Hawks just had no answer as the Clones came rolling back. I was on the phone with my friends from Ft Dodge Ia who were lamenting the comeback and what it meant for them. Got humng up with minutes left and remembered what it was like to be there in the mid 80's. Ames is one of those places where the college is a bright spot that the town revolves around. I was jacked...though I like the hawks I have alwys loved the underdog. UNI, ISU, Drake all play second fiddle in IA to the Hawkeyes. THey used to pre empt everything to televise wrestling, basketball and anything else between the local schools. last night was a classic sure to be replayed many times over in every barber shop and diner in the state.
