Nahhh

there is no way AD Bates could possibly do the BC basketball program what he did to Fiami.

I think they've lost 5 in a row or 5 of last 6.

Proud former coach of one of those RiverHawks, especially since he was the one torched him in the 2nd half.

Speaking of former coaches, we might be doing a TOS to Bryant by the end of the year. Not a good start for the O'Shea's. 3 Ivy losses along with some others. I give the man credit on his scheduling.

Groce needs to amp it up during the B1G season or that may be another.

I thought the TOS to Ohio topic titles were funny the couple of times we've lost coaches since, but a TOS to Bryant title really would be the nexus of the universe.

You have to wonder how much longer Larry has down in Western Carolina. It's been 5 years since he finished higher than 5th in the conference.

Rough year for ex-Ohio coaches, especially if you throw Geno Ford into the mix.

What a quote:

"At 3-5 and with their last game a loss at home to recent D1 entrants UMass Lowell, Boston College’s season so far is just about as gross as Chipotle’s diarrhea burritos."

Whatever . . . most people here care about as much for your political commentary as they do for your deft football analysis.

"Most people here" based on what, OCF? Have you taken a poll?

I, for one, care more for Monroe's political commentary than for his deft football analysis. On the other hand, I care more for you deft football analysis than your political commentary.

We may see 3 former coaches bite the dust after this year, not so sure about TOS being one of them though.

This is JC's second year and it surely looks like it will be another loosing season. Because BC is a private institution we do not know what his deal is. If it was for a 5 year term I would doubt his termination after this year. He is probably pulling down over $1.0M per and to pay out 3 years would be too costly for BC. However if he has a 3rd loosing season then all bet are off and the AD can sell this to the boosters and the fan base.
The only thing JC has to fall back on is he at least is well paid and if he doesn't spend all this money he could live pretty well by moving back down to a mid-major conference coaching job paying what he was making at Ohio.
He was very lucky at Ohio in that his inherited players performed and they were the ones that enabled him to get his big break and payday.
As far as O'Shea's situation is concerned he is not on the hot seat.

Agreed. Even if JC continues to lose he will not be set loose....this year.

His agent landed him a very long contract after his landmark CBI season!!! He's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Let me put it this way, if we were talking about football Groce may have already been gone by now. Don't know why Hunter keeps his job, I suppose they have low standards at Western Carolina.
There were many at BC who openly disliked the Christian hire and he has done nothing to assuage their arguments there. O'Shea took Bryant into the big time ? And probably gets a pass for a few more years, but not sure if regressing like this year is what the bosses expected with Tim.

I would rate Groce the most likely to get canned even though I think he's by far the coach with the highest ceiling of that bunch, but man the injuries and outside stuff is killing his chances of lasting after this year, but what do I know?

I think you are right. Illinois fanbase acts like they are a blue blood and have been a winner as long as the game has been played. Without an AD in place and no one in charge...I look for the new Chancellor to be in place first then hire an AD. I expect he will get one more year while the dust settles around the new hires. It would be just like Illinois to send him packing at the same time he finally has a roster that is built to win. I don't think they can see how much damage Weber left in his wake.

Let's hope he gets one more year and is able to pull a Mark Turgeon and turn things around when it seemed the roster was in disarray.
