I assume that this game will not be available in Ohio on TWC. Therefore, our only viewing option will be the aforementioned webcast. Is that correct?

I would check your guide. Time Warner Sports Channel Ohio - Mid-Ohio and Northeast Ohio has the Ohio/St. Bonaventure on its schedule while Time Warner Sports Channel Ohio - Southwest Ohio has the Ohio Division I State Championship game on its schedule. I'm not sure which one of those is shown in Athens.

Link: http://www.twcsportschannel.com/oh/northeastohio/TV-Schedule
Thanks, I did check my Guide and it says the game will be on TWC Channel 1311 here in Athens. Now, I just hope I can believe the Guide, since this is TWC we are talking about.

Wasn't it St. Bonnie we lost to in triple OT the same day Troy ran us out of the Superdome like a HS squad? I was in NOLA for the game and my wife had to convince me to go to bed and not wait for the coaches to return to the hotel so I could tell them what I thought of the prep. Thank goodness for my wife!

It was although it was 4OT. DJ scored 43 but they had a guy (Andrew Nicholson) score 44. We took 40 some threes that game if I remember correctly.

As for the football game I remember thinking that they had two receivers who were NFL quality. Turns out it was mostly us making them look that way although Jerrel Jernigan did some success.

Just finished listening to their podcast preview and they aren't very complimentary of us.

"I don't want to say Ohio is a decent team. They're not decent. They're not a great team. Bonaventure should win this game..." I'm guessing he was going to say easily but he didn't finish the thought.

"We are the crown jewel of the out of conference schedule. Other than Florida State we are their game....They've beaten nobody of note" Psst, take a look at your wins guys.

I love how they accuse us of loading up on cupackes, look at their schedule vs ours, using current RPI-

St Bonaventure:

23 Hofstra (L)
35 @Syracuse (L)

126 @Sienna
146 Vermont
179 Ohio
184 @Buffalo (W)

220 S Carolina St
259 @Canisius (W)
288 Binghampton (W)

305 Niagra
329 LoyolaMD (W)

AVERAGE- 190.4

OHIO:

32 Tulsa (W)

109 @St. Bonaventure
134 AR Pine Bluff
127 FL State (L)
167 FL Gulf Coast (W)

206 Jackson St
212 @Cleveland St
238 Tennessee St (W)
260 Norfolk St (W)
280 UC Riverside
287 Marshall (W)

AVERAGE- 186.5

As you can see, Ohio's average opponent RPI (186.5) is actually better than St. Bonaventure's (190.4). So far Ohio's best win (167 FGCU) is better than theirs too (184 Buffalo).

Ohio's average margin of victory: +13.75. Average margin of defeat: -5.5 .
St.B's average margin of victory: +7.0. Average margin of defeat: -9.5.

Each team is 4-2. Avg opponent RPI through 6 games is 185.2 for Ohio, 186.3 for St.B. Any way you cut it, Ohio's schedule is as good as or better than theirs.

In conclusion, any assumption that can be made from our schedule can also be made from theirs.

According to them Buffalo was an ugly but good win and FGCU is terrible this year.

In fairness, I think they are assessing our team based more on last year than the small sample of this year. On that basis, we're pretty terrible, but those of us on this board know that this is a very different team. Even so, it's hard to gauge this team day-to-day even for those of us who follow it. Many trips down the floor we clearly look like a top 100 team that can play with anyone but sometimes we look like a bad NAIA team. This is a good test.

The guys that do the Bonablog. They have a podcast. They seem like pretty knowledgeable guys but I think Recovering Journalist hit the nail on the head. They were lazy and just looked at last year's record and then looked at Ken Pom without really doing any homework to realize that our team this year and last year bear no resemblance to each other. Looks like Vegas money knows the difference. The line opened at SB -6.5 but it's down to -5 right now. It's working it's way down to what Jeff said it would be.

Like him or not, TOS was right when he said; "That's life on the road". It's difficult.
If we are to have any real success this year, winning away from home is imperative.
It's just that simple.
Whether we win or loose this game it won't be a precursor to the future as we haven't played enough games. I would say we need to get trough 12 or 15 games before we can really know whether we have a team that can win on the road.

I agree entirely that our OOC schedule is a joke and that some sorry program can probably claim to be the "crown jewel" of our schedule.

I think they were probably lazy in their research. They probably assume this is just another MAC program that they are superior to with their A-10 status. What is funny is that not only is their program not superior to our own basketball program, it isn't even comparable.

Their last three NCAA tournament appearances? 2012, 2000 and 1978. For Ohio, it is 2012, 2010 and 2005. We've been to the tournament more in the last decade than they've been in the last 35+ years. We ran to the Sweet 16 in 2012. They haven't been to the Sweet 16 in my lifetime.
Their high school gym gets loud, but it certainly isn't to the pedigree of the Convocation Center. Even if they still won't paint the bathrooms and give us the xcelerator hand-dryers we so badly desire.

We weren't ripping Ohio for loading cupcakes but this game to Ohio is what our game was last week to Hofstra. Games against Syracuse for Bona and FSU for Ohio are pay day games that come with recognition and money more so than a decent chance to win.

On paper a Bona v Hofstra game looks like nothing to outside fanbases but inside those fanbases a lot can be taken away from the win or loss. We did regard last weeks game v. Hofstra as a huge game OOC and to Ohio this is a game that can be won against a team from a multiple bid conference. Every team has cupcakes and while you don't want to agree Ohio has not beat anybody of note in the grand scheme of the season. Just like St. Bona hasn't either. These teams are both playing for an auto bid and the teams of note to beat will most likely occur in February and March. Our apologies if the tone came off incorrectly.

In defense of our quick preview, we really only have last years games and ton of box scores to go off of this week. The Blog is something we all contribute to on the side after family, job and life in general so we hope you guys learned a little from the podcast and our previous game stories. We don't try to be super homers but we all have that pride that comes out when talking about your own school.

Will say this, this message board is one of the most active and engaging message boards we've encountered and we hope Ohio is on the OOC every year in our eyes.

I will link our post game story here later too and please leave comments bc we love seeing what opposite fans are thinking.

I think we tend to have a bit of a thin skin because we have a very good program that has decades of nationally notable results, but few people outside of our own fan base recognize it. They just come in and say, "Oh, a one-bid league school that won 10 games last year. They suck." The thing is, 10-win seasons are a real anomaly around here. We're probably a year or two away from anything special with so much youth, but this year's team is righting the ship and bears little resemblance to last year's ball-hogging train wreck.

I agree with you that with the relatively short trip and competitive programs, this is a good OOC match-up just about any year. Should be fun today and will be a learning experience for us win or lose.

Not devaluing Ohio at all. Fresh in our memories was a winnable game in 2012 at Ohio in which we went back and forth all day. Ohio has consistently given us fits and also good games. Last year was an anomaly in that we hit from 3 and also has a 7'1 center who could protect the rim.

Since 1980 the series is 5-4 Bona so in no way is Ohio overlooked. This game is a big game for Bona as well bc after two poor performances, if another poor performance comes from this game, fans in Bonaland will be at def con 5 knowing how strong the A10 is this year. The A10 is a better league top to bottom than the MAC and knowing that Bona has a ton of work cut out for them.

You can mirror this with air play and it's pretty nice on a larger screen. I've done multiple times with streams from TWC.

Our first true road game. We obviously have a lot to work on. We're too inconsistent right now. They are legitimately favored. But to call themselves the crown jewel of our non-conference schedule is ridiculous.

Another disappointing 2nd half. This seems to be becoming a trend. Play well early/till half, then in the 2nd half, proceed to struggle.

They need to work on this.

Bonnies were hitting a lot of shots, good inside passing, and that zone was good. I think we will see a lot more zone until we show we know how to break it down. TO's and appearance of the matadors on D last 10 minutes was tough to watch.
