Bobcats beat #14 UConn. One of the most historic wins in Bobcats history.

I found an article about the game. They had Donyell Marshall and Ray Allen on that squad.

And Donny Marshall and Kevin Ollie. They only lost five games all year.

Okay, I just saw something odd. In the article it mentions that UConn was hoping for three easy wins. I remember beating UConn and LaSalle but why didn't we get a third game in the tournament. UConn and LaSalle each got three games while bbref only lists two games for us, Creighton, UT-Arlington and Tennessee Tech. Anybody with a better memory than mine?

Edit: I think I just figured it out. Chaminade and Hawaii-Hilo were both in the tournament and Basketballreference doesn't list non-D1 games. Adding to UConn's overconfidence might have been our narrow 79-76 victory over Chaminade the night before we played them.

we definitely played three games in Hawaii. Uconn was the middle game. I can't remember who was first.

Edit: I think it was Chaminade :)

I thought Donny and Donyell were the same guy. I guess not.

I thought I once read that Donny Marshall belittled Trent and Ohio in a combine or pre-draft workout or something. Anyone else ever hear that rumor? Why would he do that when we ran the scoreboard on them?

The anecdote appears here:

I recall that Uconn game clearly. It wasn't as close as the final score. Ohio led by 20 or 30 and won going away. It was a great win, but I still don't think it ranks anywhere near wins in the Tournament.

I think Geno Ford was name MVP of the tournament. He absolutely destroyed UConn in the first half of that game. UConn was collapsing on Trent and Geno made them pay.

The funny thing is Ohio nearly lost to Chaminade in the game before beating UConn. I also remember how Larry Hunter had the guys practice outside on a playground or something while out in Hawaii too.
