Hmmm, is he a senior? No offense, but I had hopes for a bigger time recruit with the open scholarship for next year. But if it's just to reward him this year then I'm fine with that.

Everything I read says hes a Jr. It is an odd singing for sure...but I don't know the circumstances around it. There is a reason Saul decided to do it.

I suspect it's just for spring semester would be
Surprised if it carried on to 2016/2017 season.
Fun to see walk on rewarded when able to do so :)

Pleased that he is being rewarded for his perseverance. Good guy and well respected by his teammates.

Well done, Crabtree! Feels like he really deserves this, so it's great to see his hard work pay off. Good personality to have on the squad, these types of players are important.

The scholarship was available and it was a way to say thanks for the hard work and dedication to the program. I'm guessing it won't carry to next year so no big deal. But it is a big deal for the kid!

Congrats!

Glad for the kid, but it should not go past this year unless the kid is playing significant minutes.

I hope someone forwards your message to Coach Phillips so he can plan accordingly for next season.

Why don't we see this more often when there are open scholarships? The walk ons put in all the work and get none of the glory, why not get them a semester or two of free school.

In this case, I would think Ohio wanted to keep a scholarship open in case a transfer happened their way. With the second semester ready to start, it's clear that one isn't coming so you can reward Crabtree's three years of work.
