If anyone on this board believes Saul that he is here for 5-8 years I have some land I would like to sell you.
If Wisconsin offers him that job he is gone. Going from a Mid-Major program to a P5 is a huge upgrade. In addition, his salary alone would probably go from $550 to
$1.5M minimally, not to mention all the other perks.
Do I think he will get the offer, NO as he still has not proved he can win consistently at this level. If this was 2017 and his winning % was 75% and he took Ohio to the NCAA's 2 years in a row then I would predict he would receive an offer.
Thoughts?

He would, he should, he won't because the offer isn't coming anytime soon.

Land we can buy with that sweet sweet buyout cash.

My thoughts are there is already a thread with this very topic and the answers are still the same: Saul's not going to get an offer for this job any time soon.

Ryan retired now so Gard would get his chance at coaching. If Gard does well in the B10 and gets to the Dance or the NIT, he should get to stay. But there are always politics involved, so who knows.

If there is an opening at the end of the year, I expect Saul to at least get a look. He's a known commodity up there.

I'm wondering, what would happen if Saul moved to Wis and Groce became available. Would he be back at Ohio?

Groce becoming available is probably more likely in my book than Saul going to Wisconsin. I'm hoping neither scenario happens. I've gotta believe that there are other candidates that will get a look in MARCH or APRIL when the position potentially becomes available. Guys like Archie Miller (whom I hope stays at Dayton for ages) Chris Mack, Bennett at UVA, etc, are more likely than Saul at this time.

I think Alvarez is in a funny spot. Bo pulled a fast one after Alvarez had told him he was not going to be able to appoint his successor. I am not sure what he will do as an AD. His FB background and watching how he coached tells me he is probably not happy and may go against common wisdom with a knee jerk reaction. I have followed Wisky since Yoder left Muncie for Madison and have liked what they have done but this situation is a bit slippery. It will be entertaining to see if Gard is kept...my gut says they post it and do due diligence and see who wants it before considering Bo's wishes.

Groce will always have a job...whether he is a head or an asst he will be somewhere ....but CHampaign is a hot mess just like the State of Illinois in general. Interim chancellor and No AD with a committee appointed for input into each....weird time for all my friends who are contributing alums as they all want input. I think, IMHO, that Groce gets another year to right the ship given the injuries and politics of the AD and college prez situations that are going on....

If Alvarez doesn't stay with Gard, there's no fear he'd come after another of Bo's guys.

You have to wonder about Alvarez as an AD. He lost his last 2 football coaches. And now this Ryan thing. I would guess that he's not a great guy to work for, although he comes across as a pretty nice guy.

that's why I think his reaction is an outlier. Always thought he operated on several different levels when he was coaching and suspect that those who deal with him know the persona underneath the facade better than we.

That was my thought as well.
