I guess if you define the word fan as only those who live in the Athens area that are willing and able to go to the game.
If you change the word only to majority and throw in those who regularly drive to the game, I agree 100% with 69's post.
I'm no math major, but I'd be willing to bet more "fans" will see the bobcats on Friday night on tv than would be in attendance on a Saturday afternoon.

Depends on your definition of a fan. I may like a certain musical artist but that doesn't mean I'd pay to see them play.

Yeah Big diff between "this game is televised" when you release the schedule and "we're making the schedule variable based on what time they can find for us ....we'll let ya know". Turney is right... the chance of more seeing it on TV is correct. How many recruits, coaches, parents of players fall into that is questionable but alums, hoops fans not at a game and casual watchers will be sure to tune in at prime time on a Friday night. Anyone else tune in and watch the early and late Horizon league tilts on Fridays?

If you want to include over 15 years of "in kind" donations/contributions of significant time organizing senior banquets, selling split the pot tickets, organizing a golf tournament, working tailgates and distributing schedules all over southeast and central Ohio, I'll take you up on that.

I watched some of Valpo-Oakland. I didn't watch the late game.

I do agree that it would be best if the MAC, and Ohio would put TBA/TBD next to those games on the schedule that are in the "wildcard" TV window. It would also be nice if TV would extend the window out to 30 days instead of 21. Perhaps someone who knows (ANorris?) could inform us of why this stuff works the way it does.

Regardless of the time, I'll make it to this one. The change on the day is frustrating, because like others, I was planning to make a day of it in Athens, and spend the evening. I wonder, would it be better to take 2-3 MAC games, state they could be on Friday night, and move them to Saturday if they aren't selected? Seems like that might be better than the other way around.

Ah yes, nothing like getting into a pissing match over who donates more dollars and time to the school. That will show them.

I planned on going to this game since it was a Saturday. It's still not out of the question, but now I just might need a place to crash rather than showing back up in Cincinnati at 3am.

I will watch on tv, but my tickets will go unused. That is a shame, because we really enjoy going to games.

Donate your tickets? I sometimes try to give mine away when I can't go.

(Speaking of which, anyone need BG tickets for tomorrow?)

I pay for season tickets despite the fact I can't make many games living as far as I do from Athens. I always appreciate a televised game as I am able to watch those when I cannot make the trip.

Ohio Hockey game vs. Pitt is at 7pm that night.

I hate that these games get moved for TV. The audience for that game @ 9pm has to be tiny.

Lots of people purchase season tickets just to attend Sat. games.

Interesting point Toast because the preseason promotions for buying tickets touted this season as the season with most home Saturday games in program history.

Ohio has 16 home games, there are 15 home games that will not be changed. I can appreciate the inconvenience this date change can cause to some folks but in the grand scheme of things I think it is a minor set back.

Good point. It is just one game moving for TV. There are several other Saturday home games in February.

Our fan base is small and fickle. I don't expect a big crowd. And I expect a mass student exodus at half time. Just like week night football. I'm not a fan of this. But, I need to get used to it because it ain't changing.

Anyway, I hope I'm wrong and the Convo is rocking and we look awesome on TV and some stud recruits watch and are impressed.

I wonder if that meant the most conference Saturday games in program history. I'm only speculating, but my assumption is that Ohio Basketball, by agreeing to the MAC TV Deal (if they even have a choice), agree to be subject to this situation. It's not as if they get to choose when TV games get moved.

It would seem to me the MAC, and Ohio, could do a better job with handling these. Maybe note which ones are subject to TV wildcards?

Adding to my previous post, here's the link to the MAC TV Schedule. Looks like home games on 2/6, 2/20, 2/27 could all potentially be subject to the Wildcard Selections for either CBS or ESPN, and in one case TWC sports.

Saturday home games were already rather light this season before this change. I think it kinda sucks that students get only three Saturday home games during the season, and that's including the opener against FGCU.

I agree. The December schedule needs not to be repeated in the future in terms of no Saturday games. I'd still love to hear the thinking behind what went into that.

Sucks for folks like me too who live in Cincinnati. I'd never make a weeknight game, though I might be able to make 9:00 Friday if I eat fast food while I'm driving. Definitely cuts down on the "Athens weekend" experience, though.

I kind of get it for those living way out of town, but for students, locals and those in the immediate area--is this really a huge deal once in a season? Really, you won't get all your sleep? When I see late night games on ESPN with real fanbases, those places appear to be rocking. While Saturday night would be much easier on out of town'ers, I think an occasional night games is great. Football and basketball games at Noon or 2pm can be sterile. I personally love the weekend night games as the electricity is ramped up 100x. Then again, with our fanbase being fickle, I guess the students may prefer drinking over a hoops game and people out of town may not like getting home at 2am--but if you're a WVU season ticket holder living in Pburg, which there are plenty, getting home at 1-2am is something they do frequently. But at OHIO it's a deal breaker? I may be closer to 50 than 20, but I don't think a 9pm game will kill me once in a season especially considering it should be a great game and we aren't on national tv often.
