He has been a big difference maker for us this season. One thing that has surprised me is his consistency. Over the last 5 games (16, 10, 9, 12, 17) averaging 12.8 points per game and making important plays. He was always a guy in the past where i got nervous when he touched the ball, not at all this season.

Congrats to him for stepping it up and being a leader.

He's really improved offensively. He's able to hit the soft 15 footer or floater or baby hook, which is hard to come by.

It took me a long time to warm up to Setty as I kept thinking he was frequently out of control on offense.

But, the guy is a warrior and can definitely be a handful around the basket.

I agree. He still has some head-scratching plays but he is making up for it with production lately. Coming into this year I didn't think he should be starting, more of an energy guy off the bench, but he is playing pretty well right now.

Setty exemplifies the heart that this team is playing with every night. The growth he has made from his first year on the team until now is amazing. It's obvious from his shooting this year that the hours he spent in the gym over the past summer are paying off. He is just one of the many reasons I enjoy watching this team. Regardless of the outcome for the rest of the season, Setty can leave knowing he has helped to leave this team in a better position than when he arrived. While he may not necessarily be the best athlete on the team, there is no doubting his desire and dedication to the team concept that Coach Phillips wants this team to have. I think his leadership has helped to bring this team together and form a solid foundation for some great teams in years to come.

The kid is as much like a Jeff Boals as we've had since Jeff Boals, he does all the little things and brings the toughness factor, gets on the floor, has no fear.

I don't often get to say "I told you so" but in this case my hopefulness has been on target. In the preseason thread of the X-factor I said that I thought Treg Setty would be the X-factor because he would be a steady player who would allow others to rest and play to their own strengths.

This year's team of late has not had to have any one player tying to do too much to make up for bad rotations or lack of support. Being able to play with the confidence that a missed shot or bad trip down the floor isn't all on your back allows players to be more natural. I feel like Setty has contributed to this greatly and has also played in control of his own game (most of the time😊)

FanIntheStands...you are spot on with your comments on the contributions made by Treg. He has raised the bar, and set the tone for how hard you need to play to be successful at this level of competition. He now has a young "partner" in Gavin Block who is obviously "ALL-IN" with him ! Fun to watch. Billy the Cat...good comparison to Jeff Boals.!

I agree with everyone. Setty always has been a contributor with his hustle and energy, but I wasn't sure if he would ever contribute more than that, but he's become a really good basketball player this year.

And (even though he went to high school in KY) he's a Southern Ohio native! Makes it even better.

Very well said. Setty is a great example for the years to come indeed. Hopefully he gets a damn good Senior Day send off next Saturday.

Agree, totally.

Didn't Treg transfer in to OHIO, by the way? If so, did he have to sit out a year so we've only had him for 3 yrs?

He left SIU when they program went belly up. They had a mass exodus. New coach now and a much improved team.
