A win tomorrow night guarantees Ohio a winning season overall.

My Chicago-based loyal BobcatBuddy and sons are waffling on making the annual pilgrimage to Cleveland this year to meet me and mine for the Tourney based primarily on what they witnessed at the game in Dekalb, I think a win tomorrow night guarantees another 3 in attendance at the Q.

There's three other 6-5 teams in the MAC - Toledo, Ball State, and CMU. Win this one on the road and I really love where this team is at. With a somewhat favorable schedule left (Miami twice, EMU and Buffalo at the Convo), this one would feel like a huge steal to get.

With Bearden out and Skeete really struggling this season, I like our chances. Buffalo goes pretty deep, so hopefully our guys have got the stomach bug out of their system because conditioning will come into play.

Road wins in MAC are pretty much the hallmark of a good team, right?!

Bearden being out doesn't make this an easy game. Bulls have depth.

No, but missing their dynamic starting PG certainly doesn't help them, either. I'm not saying this one is in the bag by any means, but this is the perfect time to be playing the Bulls, while they are short-handed. I don't expect an easy game, and we could very well lose. We have proven we can beat or be beaten by anyone. A win tonight would really keep this group rolling and getting hot at the right time.

Any tech geeks out there know if this can be watched on smartphone (apple 5c)? I have a H.S. b-ball game to attend tonight.

They're going to have to rely heavily on Skeete in Bearden's absence to run the point. I'm not sure they have anyone else after Skeete who can be a PG. I know he's capable, and has beaten us before, but he's not Bearden. I don't think that can be underestimated. Bearden is responsible for about 20+ ppg on this team when you factor in his assists per game. He also gets to the line a lot more than anyone else on their team.

One of their strengths, from a quick analysis of the stat sheet, seems to be that they have a bunch of guys who are 2's and 3's who can really get it done in all aspects of the game.

Download ESPN app.

And if you can't watch, download the Tune In app and listen. It uses significantly less data if you're not on wi-fi.

Can anyone help me understand how the Bulls re-loaded so quickly after all they lost? Is Oats that good? Did Hurley already have these JC transfers in the pipeline before he skipped west?

Blake Hamilton and Willie Conner were D1 transfers that sat out last year (much like Simmons and Kaminski for us). Skeete and Bearden were returning starters and Massingburg, Perkins and Smart are freshman. Unlike us there was no adjustment period because Oats was Hurley's top assistant and recruiter. The system is the same. They also didn't have every recruit bail on them like so many programs when they lose their coach.

I don't know either. They lost the Navigato kid to Toledo after Bobby left. Did they lose any other new recruits?

Maurice O'Field also went west with Coach Hurley. He was a JUCO I believe.

Hey everybody, I'm a writer for Bull Run. The above is actually incorrect. This entire team is pretty much built by Oats.

So here's the rundown of recruiting.
Hurley left, and Nate Navigato de-committed, I'm actually very happy he did. Same goes for transfer Torian Grahman and JUCO recruit Maurice O'Field. The only recruit we kept was Nick Perkins, who was primarily an Oats guy to begin with.

Hamilton and Conner are two JUCO guys. We did not have them until Oats went recruiting after Hurley left. They were steals from their respective JUCO league and are a huge reason that we pretty much reloaded this year after some early season struggles.

So the Freshmen. CJ Massinburg is a very under-recruited combo guard from Dallas who can run the point and at the 2. He has been great this season as a Freshman and will be a threat in the MAC for years to come. Perkins is a 6'9" forward who can shoot the 3 ball well and beat you up in the post. Nikola Rakicevic is a freshman from the Serbian U-19 (or 17 team I think?) team. He may not play either though because he went back to Serbia earlier this week for his mother's funeral. Finally, Ikenna Smart. He's the feel good story. Smart is getting good minutes this year despite it being only the third year of him playing basketball ever. He was originally a Soccer player in Nigeria. He was one of Hurley's projects.

Raheem Johnson is sitting out the year with a foot injury and like you said Bearden is suspended. Wigginton has been a rebounding machine. Do not underestimate Skeete's point guard ability. Bearden was out for the Delaware game on injury and Skeete generated 12 assists that night. I actually prefer him at the point but Lamonte is still the clear first choice.
So in essence, we have 4 guys who were in the rotation last year, and only 3 that have played in it. Oats has done a tremendous job recruiting and deserves a look at COTY.

I also have a quick note on Hamilton, this is legitimately a guy who can play the 1-4 spots. He's one to watch.

Feel free to ask more questions on the team

I stand corrected. They both went the unusual route of one year at a D1 school (Hamilton at Northern Arizona and Conner at Florida A&M) then JUCO so they didn't sit last year.

Just wondering but why are you happy you didn't end up with Navigato?

I'll take CJ over him in a heartbeat. When he put up 17 points I think at Duke, I was sold. Also, Navigato's attitude when he came to Alumni was the final straw for me. He flipped off the student section because they gave him a rough time.

I hadn't heard about that. I had the pleasure of playing a round of golf with Dudley Bradley a few years ago and I asked him how he dealt with the Maryland fans (he was from the DC area and had UNC and Maryland as his last two teams and he picked UNC). He said he got some good advice from another player (can't remember who told him it). He told him to laugh when the fans made fun of him and not to take it personally. He said that turned it into a fun thing instead of a confrontational thing. Charlie Coles was great at playing the hostile crowds.

Tonight...gotta limit Beefs steals and our turnovers. Gotta avoid taking ill advised shots which give them a chance to kill us in transition.
