What nice situation we have with our AD. Been a lot of good things happen since he came and I like the stability that he has brought to the post. NO one is going to be totally happy with every decision but we have a great situation here.

I was reading one of my HS classmates FB posts. He works for a newspaper in Charleston IL but has his eyes on the politics of Chicago and the State of IL . Interesting goings on with the AD post over there. http://www.news-gazette.com/sports/illini-sports/baseball...

Just taking a moment to reflect on the places I have been, the programs I am close to and what a stable and great situation we have in Jim

Interesting that they made the names of the committee members public. I can't remember if they did that when I was on the ad search committee at OU. All I know is that our process was short and sweet and if our names were made public, there was little if any politicking for candidates.

I cringe every time a position comes open. Shaus has been a good one, and I hope he retires here. It ain't going to happen.

I was in Wichita a few years ago on business.
They revere Jim there.
one of his parting gifts and legacy is Greg Marshall who still leads their hoops program.
I believe he was also instrumental in raising funds for their arena.

His national profile has grown and he is now on the prestigous NCAA BB selection committee.

He came here initially, among other reasons, was to get D1 football on his resume.

He will only leave when the right position presents itself.

I would extend this subject to include Rod McDavis too.

Really hope JS stays, and can pick Frank's successor. And Saul's as well after he's had a successful run here at Ohio.

But in the end, coaches/administrators are going to come & go. Just leave it in better shape than you found it. Schaus has certainly done that.

Double plus one.

What would be ideal for success for an AD? Certainly first rank facilities, a history of strong success in the major sports, lots of budget, and big local fanbase would be in there, right?

Across OUr athletics we don't rank too highly on most of those--downright low of some of 'em.

I don't recall all of Schaus's hires but volleyball, women's hoops, baseball, softball all MAC titles recently--right? All Schaus hires?! And men's hoops seems to be rising.

Double plus one for Schaus.

Dear Purdue,

I heard Jim hates trains. You don't want an AD who hates trains leading your program. We will gladly keep the train hater here for you instead.

That is all.

He also hates space travel. Huge NASA hater. Thinks astronauts should get real jobs.

And he wears cream and crimson underwear.

Isn't there a clause in his contract that he can't leave until Peden expands to 50,000 seats and we win a MAC football championship?
