That video of Tommy hitting the winner: Mature team. Look at the size of the bodies. And after Tommy hit it, we got back on defense instead of hanging around and celebrating which might have given them a last-second chance.
Bassett mature? Washington mature? Kinney mature? Coleman mature? c'mon man, it was the immaturity of that team that caused them to under-perform all season long.

Bobcats win. 9 of 10 over Miami. 9-5 in MAC play. Were are tied for second with four games left. One game behind Akron for the #1 seed.

A win is a win, but that 2nd half was brutal against a glorified YMCA team. Young team still needs to learn how to put people away and not let off and play down to competition.

Still tied for 2nd though.

DeVaughn's achilles heel was his lack of maturity, KVK and Tommy were the exception, not the rule.

Speaking of KvK, that was an awesome pick he set (and a great read by Tommy to see it) to get Tommy open. I hadn't really noticed it before.

Was just reading something interesting on the Miami board. In 16 seasons (they only covered 12 seasons but I added the first four) at Miami, Charlie Coles lost 4 games by more than 20 points in the MAC. In just under four seasons John Cooper has lost 8 conference games by more than 20 points, including 3 this season alone. Can you say "In over your head"?

His intangibles were underrated. Great at setting picks and elite at boxing out. Need a metric to judge how his boxing out allowed teammates to secure rebounds.

I think Fiami's second-half surge was the result of two things. First, complacency -- Ohio got complacent with a 23-pt lead, probably the result of reading Fiami's defeatist body language in the first four minutes of the half. Second, Fiami suddenly started playing tight defense. Same thing happened in the first 15 minutes of the second half of the NIU game at the Convo. After the under 16 TO, Fiami played in-your-face D. But like NIU, they couldn't maintain it. Good resiliency by Ohio today, but they need to work on handling pressure D.

Just a game behind Akron with four to go. We probably couldn't have imagined being in this position three weeks ago. Defense has really picked up; given up 70+ pts just once in the last five games.

This team is awesome! Fiami never was in the game. Let us dance! Whether we make the big tourney or not this team is tight!

Miami was never in the game? They were down by 5, with the ball, with 9 minutes left. I'd say they were most definitely in the game. Further, if they were at full strength (re: if McKnight were playing) I fear for the outcome. If we play with that lack of intensity we're going to get smoked in Akron on Tuesday.

Woulda been nice to have won bigger, led huge the whole way. But we won, it wasn't really close at the end...this team has been much more than we all thought so no serious complaint re today.

Just gotta be more solid all game against the better competition from here on.

Or what.

Great memories from that video. Adetunji hiding his eyes when Washington shot the free throws, which I think everyone watching wanted to do. Nice pass from D.J. to Tommy. Yes, great pick by KVK. Brushed the guy just enough for Tommy to get free. And Tommy hits the huge shot.

Help me out here but I don't remember Stevie Fresh and Kinney being on that team. Am I wrong?

Disagree 100%. Down by 5 mid 2nd half. Playing with 4 suspended players and 2 others out injured. Miami at full strength might have been a different outcome IMO. And on their court what will be the outcome? We've had a good run lately but we still have plenty to work on.

If you watch a lot of other BB games with top 25 teams many build good leads only to have a complacent period where the opponent make a come back but losses in the end. 2 things usually occur in this circumstance; 1) the team playing from behind are unable to maintain the intensity for a long enough period to win and 2) the better team usually prevails as they pick up the pace to pull away.
This reality is what played out yesterday.
Our boys have grown up over these past 3 weeks as we didn't show any negative emotion during the Miami run which would have resulted in a Miami come back win. The boys knew it was all about the turnovers that gave Miami their run. Once we cleaned that up the game was over.
If you think the outcome would have been different if Miami had all their players you may be right, but they didn't, and the outcome really was never in doubt.

We are playing our best ball and consequently we are the hottest team in the league as of today.

Both were on the team but did not play in the game. Stevie was out for the season with a hand injury from non conference play, Kinney and DeVaughn were both suspended 3 weeks prior to the Miami game, DW came back, Kinney did not.

Stevie had his hand in a cast and Jay had left earlier in the season following his bad decision

EDIT sorry....did not make it down to the other post before answering

We open as 13pt favorites.
I don't know where the spread was at game time but if it was 13 then that last second 3 pointer by Fiami would have been a significant shot for some.

I listened to the game via radio on the local Miami affiliate.

Was there some kind of tribute to Dirty Dancing at halftime?

Halftime show featured the "Troy Pop Rocks" jump rope dance team. They tour the Midwest and have performed at OU before. Real entertaining group. One of their samplings of music during the routine did have the "Time of My Life" theme song from Dirty Dancing.

I figured it was probably something like that-thank you for the information!

On another note.........does anyone know why the majority of NCAA teams wore their road dark uniforms at home this past weekend? Was there some kind of awareness or something? Seemed like most every game I turned on had the home team in darker colors.

Were they back in it? Sure. But there was never a point where I felt like Miami was coming back to win that one, even when they cut it to 5-6 points.
