Don't know a thing about it...didn't see it or listen...but a road win in MAC at this time of year for this apparently rising group: very good call.

- Fun game to be at.

- I think if it clicks down the stretch for Kaminski, this team is going to have a very nice February and March. The Cats have the inside presence ( Good Lord was Tony good tonight!) and the PG. Just need a shooter for crunch time. KK can be it.

- I was not comfortable with that Treg shot until it went in.

- We should've fouled on that last possession.

-Very good win. To just keep it close and then show a killer instinct late, that's what I wanted to see.

Kaminski was everything I was hoping for tonight.

That was an awesome win leading up to yet another HUGE game at Buffalo.

BANG !! .. Oh BABY what a BIG TIME win !!

headed to buffalo on a short week friday game .. buffalo lost beardon indefinitely .. the bulls' bench is thin ..

BANG !! .. Oh BABY what a BIG TIME opportunity to string some victories together !!

Nice , easy ride home tonite. 6 minutes. Best game of the year.

KK was good. TC was good. Treg was good.

Balls played well...much improvecd in the middle with footwork. Outside shooting was not as strong as it has been. We rose to the occasion as the team is starting to play together well. Balls ran a very disciplined offense off multiple screens. Whitford is doing well and they will be getting better under him. Teague next year will be a load.

Treg made some great plays on both ends. The D at the end was excellent...up 3 off his made jumper...defending the line, going for the steal he still got a deflection and even if he got whistled for the foul under 3 secs he would have been fine. KK had some killer 3s ....good ride home for the guys.

Nice to see coaching staff happy and enjoying seeing them with a plan. Watching this team I am impressed by how much they actually like each other. No factions, no jealousies...just fun. Much different than previous teams over the years. Block is easy to talk to, Dart is pretty well grounded, TC just quiet and humble, Laster getting a bit of run and much needed confidence. Good core and solid foundation for the future.

Must have been a fun game to watch in attendance, amazing how close the final stats are:

Ohio 27 made fg
Balls 28 made fg

Ohio 29 boards
Balls 29 boards

Ohio 15 pf
Balls 15 pf

Ohio 10 to
Balls 11 to

Ohio 4 stl
Balls 5 stl

Ohio 12 assists
Balls 11 assists

Ohio 10-14 ft
Balls 8-14 ft

Differences were making FTs and Ohio 8 threes to Balls 5. And Treg!

Speaking of Balls, the shots that Kaminski and Setty hit at the end took some cajones.

good pregame. Had fun sharing some stories. The couple was the poster that we knew aa a student from Buffalo. I think it was buffalobobcat or something similar. He is now in Ft Wayne covering sports. Nice to catch up with fellow BAers and with Joe McKinley and "big head" Hetts. Looking forward to seeing a few more folks before the Fiami game.... lots of FB talk in the chat last night.

In what little I could see in the video highlights, it looks like a pretty nice gym. Borna, good facility in Muncie?

Worthen is a nice arena...built when Majerus was ruling the roost and is clean , large, good underneath facilities with training rooms and locker facilities. Wide concourses where people walk for exercise. Nice graphics and great lighting/scoreboards. Yeah it's nice...but getting on that floor is near impossible. Still love the fact that the Convo is open and accessible. Like the COnvo even 3-4 K in there makes it look really empty while Stroh and the JAR looks filled to the brim.
Kaminski looked confident most of the night. It looks like adding an occasional drive to the basket or a shot off the dribble has caused more defensive room and given him more confidence in his catch and shoot routine.

The last shot by Setty was off of a set play that looked like it had plenty of option. I doubt Setty was the first or second option but the shot he took is definitely one he and the coach is comfortable with. SP has been using the use it or lose it timeout in the first half a lot this year to get a plan for the last shot of the half. Some of those plans seemed odd or poorly executed but my point is that there seems to be actual plans with several options being drawn up. This is a good sign for Bobcat fans.

I like Worthen, but it feels like a missile silo or a hangar at Wright-Patt with how much free space there is above the court.

Hey Brian. Wanted to get to meet you last night but didn't get er dun.

I noticed some folks walking upstairs to look at the vinyl signage covering the upper deck seats...an idea i have long thought we needed in the Convo to cover and remove when needed. I always thought those vinyl seat covers to promoted volley, wrestling, womens and mens hoops during the season with graphics would be cheap and easy to take on and off as needed and give the Convo a little cozier feel than to see a couple thousand empty seats up top.

YOu are right about the hangar feel. It seems to go up and is worsened by the aluminum inside the roofline that reflects sound and light

Sorry, the fiancee had a client until 4:30 so we were a little late getting to Muncie. We were behind the BSU bench in the mid-level reserves, so kinda far from all y'all over there.

Completely agree on the signage. Inexpensive and effective.

But I hope Muncie warms up to that team. They're a nice team, with a nice venue and it would be fantastic to have Ball State back and roaring as a program for the MAC's national reputation.

Still reeling from the ROnnie Thompson debacle. I like Whit. He has a good thing going and should restore the program to it's former levels ...maybe niot Majerus levels but surely competitive. It is going to take a long time to get the crowds back to the levels of the early 90s

Big 3 pt shot for KK and fine 2 for Treg.

Only tuned in at the end. Why wouldn't Laster be in for Simmons for defense at the end? Four fouls.
Not sure, maybe he just refused to not be on the floor? Saul did say in the post game Jaaron was playing with the flu.
Saul had one of those great quotes on the ESPN3 feed afterwards. He said Simmons has stomach flu but he gutted it out. Geez, I hope not.

Not only are we above .500 in the MAC for the first time in the Saul era, but we're in a four-way tie for the 4th seed in the tourney. Much more fun than last Feb.

Speaking of Saul's quote, that on-court interview was a nice touch that we don't usually get from these espn3 Webcasts. While the announcers overall were a little sleepy, the production was overall pretty good and they appeared to have done their homework.

Team seems to be playing as well as any in the MAC not named Akron.

Question on the tourney seedings. Is Western Division Champion guaranteed one of the top four spots? I guess it's likely one of them would end up in top four based on East teams beating each other up, but right now, the overall is: Akron, Buffalo, Kent and tie between Ohio + 3 West Teams. Ohio is in good position on the tie breaker at 3-1 vs. the West teams.

Or it's just outright top four teams regardless of division? Which, in that case, what's the point of divisions?

+1

I've had exactly the same thoughts about the cohesiveness of this team. I've come to the conclusion that in addition to athletic ability that Saul looks very closely at certain personality traits in his recruiting. It doesn't appear that he'll ever go after the 5-star recruit with a swollen head and attendant personality disorders. A hallmark of his teams truly does seem to be teamwork and the concept the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
The MAC did away with division champs automatically getting a top-four seed a couple years ago. It got to be pretty ridiculous some years when the West champ would've finished fifth or sixth in the East. I don't know why the MAC still has divisions. The only other D1 conference with divisions is the Ohio Valley.

The analyst for the game was David Eha, a former BSU player. I thought he did a great job of being fair.

Agree on both of your thoughts here. The MAC should absolutley get ride of basketball divisions. I sometimes wonder if they stick with it just for scheduling reasons. Otherwise, the divisions are merely cosmetic. You get nothing for saying you're "MAC East Champs".

I thought the Ball State guys calling the game on ESPN3 were the best ones I've listened to all season in conference play. I tried to sync with Russ & Rob, but it was too big of a time gap, so I went to the TV guys.
