After todays game and the last several games is it worth the money to get a parking pass / be a member of the Bobcat Club??? Today we get to the Convo at 11 AM for a great women's game and the Purple and Blue lots are parked full. 3 HOURS before the men's game. And NO there weren't that many folks at the women's game to fill the lots. Does anyone know why these lots are not being cleared for Bobcat Club members, we pay for the parking spot ??? I suspect all these cars are those that usually park under the Convo but are run out due to OUPD security issues. I think we need to find somewhere else for them to park.

Blue lot is a joke this year. I get to the game, have trouble finding a spot, expect a big crowd, walk the extra walk do to the security company subsidy, then get in the Convo and - where are the people I expected based on the filled up lot???????

Sumthin's screwed up about this.

You purchase a pass that does not guarantee a space. And there are not many spots in the Blue Lot

I bought a family pack for season tickets. That included a red lot pass.

Embarrassingly, yesterday was the first game I made it to this year... I was pleasantly surprised by the red lot. I figured it would be way out. It turned out to be outer ring of the lot immediately around the outside of the Convo. Easily worth it.

1. Sibs weekend is a wild card. Those visitors have to park somewhere and after 5:00 Friday lots are open game and doing otherwise would be counterproductive.

2. Peden parking is a better option due to the walk around the building and egress after the game.

3. It wasn't full at 10:55 when I parked in a wide open blue lot. Then I went uptown for lunch.

4. Bobcat Club parking isn't a civil right.

Have to disagree. It may not guarantee you a particular space but it should guarantee you a space in the lot designation that you have otherwise they are overselling the spaces.

I've been parking in Peden and got there yesterday at 1:45 and there were spots still left.

There is NOT a venue in the nation that sells only 397 parking passes for 397 slots that is simply not how that industry is ran. And they have national conventions to come up with this stuff. 😎

Student parking that used to be under the convo has been eliminated and moved to what is also the blue and purple lots. That is what I was told when I inquired.

One thing I've considered for the lots is to make it one pass for the whole Convo lot. If you want your spot get there more than 10 minutes before tip off. I know, I know, the folks that donate more deserve that spot, and that's a valid point. It just seems to me that the management of the parking lots could be made much easier by this sort of switch.

True and the same goes for hotels and airlines - they count on certain number of no shows but for airlines at least, if you have a ticket and they don't have a seat, there is some sort of compensation.

Big difference in Delta and OHIO University. Or for that matter any entity that pre sales to a general population a service, be it the Reds, Indians, OSU, Browns, etc.... I have zero problem with this.

Yes that is part of the problem along with after 6PM and weekend anyone can park those and Peden's lot. In the past these "game day" lots were emptied 5 PM for evening or the morning of Saturday games for fans to park. Not sure why this is no longer done??

I've always parked in the lot next to Walter Hall and that's always been the best option. It's only $5 and it's the quickest way in and out I feel.

I've had a couple games this year where the lot is full and am expecting a huge crowd but it isn't there. It seems there are some non-basketball related cars in the lot.

OK - here's the skinny on this. The lots around the Convo are purple lots and as such during basketball season, they are only "stickered lots" from 8 to 5 Monday through Friday. During the weekends, anyone can park there after 5 on Friday. Unlike during football season, they are not cleared for weekend games. Combine that with Sibs Weekend this past weekend and thus the shortage of spots. For weeknight games, with the switch from quarters to semesters there are more night classes. Again, after 5 those lots are available for academic parking thus the shortage of spots.

Therefore - the Bobcat Club pitch that includes Blue Lot parking benefit is misleading at best

A bit of a change from the years I was going to games and was told as I walked into shoot around..."you'll be ticketed if you are in here after....." Even the players who parked in there got tickets on the occasions that they did not put the paper parking pass generated for that particular game on their dash. Not sure when the change came but I think I'd be a little testy if I had paid for a pass and found no place left to park....evenmoreso now that parking under the stadium is no longer available and that has to go somewhere...

Is that parking normally there on a regular non game day? I assume the possibility of explosives under the Convo is the reason. Do we see a day when that area is cleared and filled in? If that is the case you may as well close it in and make the weight rooms and practice gyms down below that are needed. Sump pump futures should skyrocket in SEO.

With the change from quarters to semesters and all of the new night classes, academics trumps athletics is what I was told. The obc is going to have to rethink the number of blue lot tags they distribute especially if we get good again and attendance goes up.

This is reminding me of my almost-every-other-year Spring sojourn to Palo Alto with my brother during which he and his Stanford buddies basically park as far from the baseball field as humanly possible so they can walk through and around campus before getting to the game. (Of course, it is always sunny and 80 degrees on the Farm so the walk is a bit different.)

Enjoy the walk people. Even the icey, cold, "long" walk back to near the field hockey field after a loss to Akron.

You are on campus, and life is good.

It's funny you mention this. I used to park somewhere on East Green - Shively or Clippinger - for basketball games and take that walk. Recently, I chose to bump up my donations for the convenience of having the parking pass. I still took the walk through College Green Saturday (I prefer to get to town early on Saturday's).

Alan makes a good point about pass parking. I didn't have a problem Saturday, but my car was in The Convo lot by 10:45am. While that's a great solution for me, I know it's not for all.

I don't see the problem with clearing lots for game day's on a Saturday at all. For Tuesday night games, I can see the problem with folks being in evening classes.

+1 And, some needed to use their scarlet-and-gray-buckeye-logoed home defibrillator.

Work day done in Cbus at appx 5:00 - on a Tuesday night - then fight through I-270/33 interchange, then 33/Carroll light, then wait behind some dufus trying to park in the wrong lot and wait for them to discuss that with the attendant for 10 minutes and then have to maneuver around the lot entrance for another 5 minutes to get out of the line and go to a different lot, then finally get into the lot and drive basically to the OU Credit Union lot and hike back to the Convo - it's bull crap - I'm not there for the campus scenery. I pony up and pay the extra bucks - and drive over an hour through traffic jammed up roads a big part of the way to actually be at the game and a butt in the seats - pony up and get the parking benefit right.....
