Won't argue with 'Tone getting it, but somebody needs to explain why Simmons shouldn't get it too? Split it right down the middle. We easily have one of the top 10 Point Guards in the country...been incredibly fun to watch him play.

There is nothing more important than a point guard- and we have a dandy . He could easily be the POTY.

Wow--All 45 minutes, only 2 turnovers, and all that production. Totally solid.

Simmons has been outstanding for this team this year. We are nowhere without Simmons. Big difference without him on the floor. Could argue he means more to this team than DJ Cooper did. Cooper had Bassett and Kellogg. Things really go south without Simmons. He is the difference maker.

I give the Beefs credit for forcing the action against Big Tone. To me, he is the POTY in the MAC. I don't know how we came up with Simmons but he and Dartis will determine how far we go. They make an outstanding back court. I like where we are heading down the stretch.

BANG! Oh baby what potential this team has to make great things happen!

MAC Player of the Year: Tony Campbell

Ohio's MVP: Jaaron Simmons

Simmons is the straw that stirs the drink on Ohio. Without him Ohio's nowhere the #2 team in the MAC.

I am anxious to see how he performs against Akron. Last time he really struggled with the pressure. Played an unbelievable game today!!! Stepped up huge! I think this was a statement to other teams that they may think they can shut Ohio down but shutting down AC but they are wrong.

Massive game today. Ohio needs another big performance on Tuesday. Not in terms of points. I thought one of JS best game of the year was one in which he only score 3 points. But he controlled the tempo, took care of the ball and played solid d.

Even early in the SaulBall tenure, we have players who we can legitimately discuss as first team All-MAC, POTY, fresh/newcomer of the year.

Not so much in football even after all these year.

I think JS has a huge advantage over DJ in that he has Tony Campbell to pass to. Reggie was a solid player on some of our best teams ever, but he simply wasn't the scorer that TC is. Imagine DJs numbers passing to Big Tone.

Imagine how TC must feel playing with Simmons this year after what he went through last season.

Saul's vote likely goes to Campbell (from The Blade):

Ohio coach Saul Phillips laughed when asked if his pick would go to Campbell.

“Well, yeah. I wouldn't vote against my daughter for prettiest girl in the sixth grade, either,” Phillips said. “[Campbell is] my guy.”

If you are Saul, you take your senior with all things equal. Simmons gonna be here 2 more years and should be consensus by then. Neither one can win without the other IMHO. Symbiotic.

Yes, tremendous point. DJ feeding Tony would have been great to see.

You mean junior I think Borna, unless you're injecting Treg into this conversation!

Tone is shooting .594 this season, Keely shot .600 his senior year. Reggie was our only scoring option down low and got double teamed constantly, plus Groce's offense was more perimeter oriented so of course Keely's scoring output wasn't as high. Let's not get it twisted and start discounting really good former players just because current players are doing nice things.

Oye! No one discounted anyone. Everyone liked Reggie. He was good. Tony is the better player, though. The shooting percentage is not relevant here. Tony takes and makes way more shots. He scores in tons of way that Reggie couldn't. He creates his own shot better and he can hit threes like crazy. In no way am I trying to put anyone down. Sheesh!

With Tony struggling late, I really think Simmons has passed him for POTY and he could win this thing 3 years in a row.

Better effort vs the top of the league tonight - from the more valuable player tonight (to Ohio) - Simmons
