First I think the schedule was a little stronger than what we gave it credit for this year. But I do agree the bar should be raised some. Hopefully we get some nice neutral court match ups vs. some major programs. Also hope we get an idea of how the Purdue home and home will play out.

For starters, yep. And then get the Cavs and Warriors on that non-con too!

Just remember that ONC games are to prepare for that MAC and get some wins!!. Every big time team that has played in the CONVO have indicated that they would not return: Indiana, Cinci, WVU Depaul are some. Even Valpo complained about getting to Athens when they can travel to easier sites. Travel and getting to Athens is a challenge. All of these teams have charters. If we could get charters into OU Airport that would help. But because of no emergency units available they cannot fly into our airport. We cannot even get our charters to leave from Athens as we have to go to Rickenbacker. Teams do not want to fly to Columbus and then bus to Athens. Parkersburg has had problems getting teams out after games because of fog. One team had to bus on to Clarksburg, WV to get their charter flight.

We are going to get a neutral site game against The Harlem Globetrotters at the Coshocton County Fairgrounds if their schedule allows. Washington Generals will be there in case of any scheduling conflicts.

Jeesh. The poster is obviously new. Give him a break. Also, could be a young kid. Give him a break.

Non conference schedules are debated a lot here bobcat 2000. I'd like to see 1-2 big games (like Xavier or Michigan State) and then a nice rounded out schedule of games we should win no problem and challenging games against similar situated teams (like the Marshall game.) This year's schedule seemed weak but is looking like it did what it was supposed to do, which is let all the new guys figure out the system and each other without overly negative results like a big blowout losses to Kansas or something.

Understand your point 69, but the poster made his/her account 10 years ago so he/she isn't young young. I realize not all of us lurked for years before joining in the discussion but it does make some sense to read what's being discussed for at least a little while before plunging in -- just to save yourself from ridicule if nothing else. One could also simply read through a couple pages of threads for awhile before posting. Just sayin'.

You may have heard of the concept of "pack journalism." This is kind of "pack posting." I call a 15-yard piling on penalty. Oops . . . I'm on the wrong board. ;-)

It depends on the charter company. Our basketball team flys out of OU airport when they go to buffalo and other further conference foes. Most Part 135 charter operations should be able to fly into UNI. I watched our basketball team board an emb120 earlier this year on their trip to buffalo. So saying they can't fly charter into athens is false.

Do we have to charter? Can we Part 91 fly a University plane--or is there no aircraft large enough or other restrictions. what's the largest passenger plane that can fly out of or into Athens?

If Athens is not available, is Columbus or Parkersburg the next feasible option?

Part 91 wouldn't work. Our largest aircraft not under a experimental certificate is a King Air 350 and thats not going to be large enough. Basketball charters are can be used at UNI from varous part 135 companies. Last time out to buffalo we used a Freight runners express emb 120. Holds about 30 passengers. Ill be on the lookout to see if Buffalo charters into UNI or not.

Football teams would require an aircraft too large for our airport. They can go to Columbus or Parkersburg and then bus to Athens. Not a huge deal.
