Here's why that 67-65 win is so memorable for me.
* Lynne and I were there.
* We'd taken two young disadvantaged inner-city boys - about 11 or 12.
* It was their first college basketball game.
* When we walked into The Convo, the first thing the boys saw was four bare-chested OU men, each man's chest sporting a large letter of OHIO. The men were wearing green fright wigs. The two boys' eyes widened.
* The crowd - as I recall - 12,000+
* With about 12 minutes to go, OU trailed by about 15 pts.
* Then it was as if Geno pushed a button labeled UL for Ultra Energy.
* OU came to life.
* The crowd began roaring - so loudly that Lynne and I could barely hear each other.
* The two young boys went nutso.
* When OU took a two point lead, it seemed like the crowd's roaring would lift the roof off The Convo.
* And then what you see on the video happened - OU stopped Miami, Geno grabbed the rebound and dribbled out the clock.
Afterward one of the boys who had seen a Cavs game said something like, "This was lots more fun than pro ball."
