Do you think we as a group on here would give Saul a bit of a pass if we lost Simmons, Dartis, Block and Kaminski for the majority of the season next year? Because from what I'm reading, that's essentially what's happened there this year, unless I'm mistaken.
If there had been upward movement (as there is here) - yes, but at IL they have trended down each year. Again, injuries, lost recruits, many reasons, but fewer wins each year does not generally lead to a pass in year 4 because of injuries. Issue is if new AD gives pass - timing of AD hire makes me doubt Groce's survival.

So the consensus is swinging as to what should be done. The mods on the board took all the talk out of each thread by telling them if they had a coaching concern they need to put it in one thread.

I don't think they let him go for several reasons that we are too far away to fully comprehend. They have a complex situation that is much worse than just a bad record. For many reasons, including the appearance to prospective candidates I don't think it is a wise move to pink slip him this spring.

Just heard on ESPN 1000 in Chicago that Illinois AD confirmed that "...John Groce will be our coach next season..."

Good for him. He's got to get them to the tournament next year though.

I'm more than little surprised since the new AD just canned Cubit as their football coach. Groce dodged a bullet.
