Haven't done it since its inception. Don't need someone to tell me how to be a fan.

Thought I saw Alan standing at the beginning of both halves at a December game. Sheep!!!

Couldn't agree more Steveland. That's why I'm not a big fan of the guy with the mic running out on the court telling us what to do. I did actually stand at the start of the Miami game last Saturday but it had more to do with the energy in the arena, the video with Charlie in it, and the fact that it was Miami. But I agree, your sheep comment is right on.

There was a time not so many years ago that large foam bricks, green/white spinners, and the like were behind the basket of the opposing team to be used when they were shooting foul shots. What happened to those? It'd be great if the folks sitting at each end of The Convo had (or were supplied by the athletic department) items to distract the opposing teams when shooting free throws. It doesn't look like we'll be able to utilize the area on the floor behind the baskets so getting something to those fans in the lower bowl on each end seems like a legitimate thing to do. Maybe, just maybe, if those fans are active it might cause others in The Convo to become involved with their voices as well.

Although I loved all the noise when I played, as a spectator I don't like to make one peep. There is just too much manufactured noise at most games with DJs and blasting music between every dead ball. My last Cavs game in Cleveland was so noisy I actually became hoarse just trying to talk to the person next to me.

Try this experiment, Giacomo (something I noticed last year): This spring, turn your TV to an NBA playoff game and noticed all of the manufactured noise. Then flip the channel to an MLS regular-season game and notice all of the organic noise, a 180-degree difference.
Although basketball is my favorite spectator sport, give me the real atmosphere at an MLS game over that of an NBA game any day of the week.

Couldn't agree more - the game is like a concert or a play. Nobody yells Free Bird four songs into the show and nobody claps after every line an actor utters. There are times and places for cheering and applause and there are times and places for just watching and enjoying. The last thing I want is some guy with a mic telling me when he things I should yell and what he thinks I should yell. Spare me.

Nice post giacomo.

Alan and Bobcat, I completely agree. And BTW Alan, "Swank" was a favorite magazine that got passed around my floor section back in the day...:)

Back when I was a graduate student and a dorm director from 79 to 81, that magazine surfaced in the dorm trash one day in Pickering. All my wife could say was "I didn't realize your family was in the publishing business."

Stand for defense needs to be replaced.
Agreed Jeff but as long as people on here who have said it needs to go continue to stand, it will continue. I just don't do it any longer because it's a joke.
Ha ha. Some of you guys complain about anything & everything. Not a big deal either way to me. I couldn't care less if it continues or not, but sort of hope it stays a while longer just to irritate the incessant whiners.

(I'm still waiting to stand through the first media timeout. Pretty sure it hasn't happened this year. Maybe since it started. Hopefully it happens tomorrow)..
