EMU radio guy says Lee got bumped on the last shot, no call, missed, Akron outlet for a wide open layup is missed. 0.6 left and shooting FTs now because EMU got a tech.

OF COURSE.

I love how there is zero explanation for the tech.

Chris Weber'd it by calling a TO without any.

Toledo Blade writer and Ohio alum Nick Piotrowicz tweeted: "Eastern Michigan's fight song should be the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme."

Pretty much.

Is that true? I assumed Murphy got a T for arguing about a call on the last shot.

On TV EMU player clearly signaled for TO with none left. That one was actually the correct call

Can't wait to hear the EMU fans whine about the refs on this one.

Arkley tweeted a video of the last sequence. Refs swallowed the whistles before the end of the timeout. There was contact, but it looked like the EMU player kind of lost his balance on his own accord. I wouldn't have called that. He did get contact from two different players though.

But on the other end, the Akron player missed the layup because he got shoved from behind, no call.

If a tree that doesn't exist falls in a crowd of MAC officials, does it make a sound?

I was really hoping Eastern would get this one. This was the league's chance to get Akron. A primarily 3-point shooting team coming off a nearly week-long bye was super cold from the floor. Eastern just couldn't contain itself with the lead. That's what scares me about tonight. Can we withstand a near week-long break ourselves? Can we "D" up enough to let our "O" catch up? I am scared to death. I do think that if we can get by this one we can get the next team. Of course, I thought Kron would run Eastern out of the gym so what do I know?

Yup. They've shaken off the rust and now have that first scare under their belt. Unfortunately, I now think they cruise through the semis.

I think the break helps Ohio more than it does Akron. Guys who play a lot of minutes like Jaaron need fresh legs.

I can see that in regards to Jaaron. I actually think that Tony will be fine as well. I worry about shooters like KK, Jordy and Block. I worry that Treg will look too much to get going from the outside. Basically I am looking for reasons to think we will lose so I'm not disappointed this year!!!!!! I still feel like we can crash tonight or win the whole thing. One or the other and the latter sounds better :)

I can see CMU being a good match up for Akron, assuming they get the W this afternoon.

If they get Central in the semi's, they will not coast.

If Ohio makes the finals, it will be against a team it hasn't beaten no matter who advances (Akron, BG, CMU).

That is such a lame nickname. Basketball nicknames have taken a big step backwards.

I'm about 8 rows up on that side of the court, and I thought it was a good no call too.

It probably was actually beneficial in this case for Eastern Michigan to have called the timeout it didn't have. If he didn't, he would have had to have heaved it from under the basket. As it was, the technical turned it from one point to two and gave the Eagles a chance to inbound. They could have gotten a better shot than the one they took, but it still was better than the alternative 90-footer.

Eastern Michigan's fan shouldn't really complain about officiating. The Eagles went ahead on two free throws after a block called against Akron that probably was a 50/50 call. But Thompson couldn't stop Johnson in the post. I think Eastern Michigan's next play was a good no call. Guy was out of control, double teamed and just threw the ball up. And there probably should have been a foul on EMU on the missed layup by Akron in the last second.

We are 0-5 against what is left in the other side of the bracket.

Akron should beat either of these teams (BG/Cmh) by 25. Both look horrible. I think BG just sucks you down to their level.
