Billy Hahn....I met him in the summer of 1986 at the OU Summer basketball camp. Sleeping in a stifling hot dorm at James Hall, walking to Nelson Commons for meals and getting my butt kicked on the courts behind McCracken Hall.
I was at the Danny Nee camp a few years before this, and had much the same experience. My dominant memory from the camp was when everyone gathered in Grover around one of the center court hoops and Billy gave a talk on shooting. Before he started he told us that if he wasn't drenched in sweat by the end of the talk he would buy us all ice cream, or something like that. He picked one of the older kids out and had him demonstrate, so Billy himself wasn't doing much shooting or running around or anything, but he was so animated as the talk progressed, and he got more and more into it, more excited and intense and emotional and insistent about fundamentals, and practice and repeating proper motions over and over and over. At the end, maybe 20-30 minutes, his shirt in the pits and chest were soaked. I was a kid impressed with his intensity, and his ability to sweat.
