"It’s not about how many people love you. It’s not about how people hate you. It’s about the relationships you create and sustain over time,” Setty said. “Long after my name is said by (Ohio PA announcer) Lou (Horvath), I’m going to be friends with the guys on this team.

“To be where I am now is awesome.”
This time it appears that it wasn't just lip service.

Freed from the cancer of last year, this young man is truly healed. What a great way to graduate.

He had a great interview w Russ last night on coach's radio show. He says he has come a long way in every area of his life since coming to Athens. Attributes that to his coaches, teammates, and spiritual mentoring through AIA.

As noted in another thread, I am a Setty convert (and it took awhile).

Nice article. I actually didn't know he was quite the character.

He was great on the post game show as well. Hard not to like the young man and appreciate his spirit. Happy for him.

Treg is a true Bobcat.

And that's just about the best compliment you can give anyone.

Attaboy, Treg! So happy the team was able to close it out when he had to sit down with the fifth foul. Really proud of the way this young man has matured, and boy has he played hard.

Here's to hopefully a BUNCH more games this year with him in green and white.

For a guy that started out as a role player then developed his game to become a key starter for this team. He fights for those 50/50 balls. He is a lot better 3 point shooter than people think. He is like 35% which is great for a hybrid forward type.

Agreed Monroe and someone is going to have to step up and fill his shoes next year big time.

Treg Setty has become my favorite Bobcat since Jeff Boals. Jeff was bigger but played the game hard like Treg. We would have made the NCAA in Jeff's senior year but he was injured early in the year when we won the Preseason NIT. He was the perfect complement to Gary Trent. Treg will be missed next year but we still get several more games with him this year so let's enjoy the ride!

Enjoyed watching Treg play yesterday. What a great game! And, I enjoyed listening to his post-game interview. He's a very interesting chap and his sense of humor seems *almost* as off the wall as Saul's, and that's saying something. In his interview he talked about his roots in southern Ohio, even mentioned the iconic village of Peebles. Sounds like his extended family is fairly close knit. I always like hearing this kind of background information on players.

I would agree with OCF--but that would probably cause him to change his mind.

He was able to hit the mid-range jumper this year and stay out of foul trouble by committing less dumb fouls. Turned him from a spark plug off the bench to a valuable piece of the nucleus. It was great to see him with his last game in the Convo like that.

Considering his first 2 years with us and how he was fouling at a rate of about 1 per every 4 minutes, I did think it was appropriate that he ended his Convo career with a foul out.

As a starter Tregg Setty played the whole game like a great sixth man. High energy, willing to take one for the team. His stamina is seems amazing.

Maybe the best individual Senior honor game performance ever? Certainly at the top of the list.

And adding to it, fouling out in OT in a 90-90 game, the cheers raining down from the rafters as he raised his right index finger to the crowd and held it there as he went thru the entire bench and staff for left hand slaps . . . classic. I don't recall a senior game ending quite like that.

It really was the perfect way for him to go out. He had a career day in an important game, a win, and he gets to walk off to a standing ovation. Hell of a way to go out, Treg!

+1. Two years ago when the team was heading back from Northern Illinois I ran across the team waiting for its plane in Midway Airport. I had my Ohio shirt on as usual while traveling and stopped by the gate to congratulate some of the guys on a good season to that point. They were all o.k. with talking to the old grad for a few seconds then went back to what they were doing. I didn't expect anything more . . . except for Treg. He stopped what he was doing and asked me when I went to Ohio, what I majored in, why I liked it, what I'm doing now, etc. He engaged me in conversation for several minutes; talked enthusiastically about the Ohio, Athens, and the team; and thanked me for supporting the team. I've been a fan ever since. Good luck in whatever you do next, Treg.
