Akron's Plump Dog is obviously a little horizontally challenged. What other large college players have played high level college basketball?

Plump Dog: Akron
Dimitri Hill: Florida (remember D'Meat Hook?)
Dexter Pittman: Texas
Oliver Miller: Arkansas
Khalid El Amin: UCONN

Rozelle Nix currently at Pitt. Cincinnati product and high school teammate of WVU's Devin Williams. Listed at 6'11'' 300 and probably about 50 pounds lighter than he was in high school.

I can't remember his name but the poster child for the "all suspenders" team played for Louisville just a little after Never Nervous Pervis. Tommy was a young kid then and couldn't get over how he ever kept his pants up.

This years Clara Peller award should go to IPFW. I am sure of 2 things...they are lying about their weight on their bios and I know where the beef is.

These xxxxxl guys usually have trouble maintaining their weight.
If Big Dog can loose 20-30lbs he could easily be a huge force in the league next year. On the other hand if he doesn't or actually gains his production will more than likely decrease.

Nigel Dixon was 6-10, 350, for Florida State and then Western Kentucky. Graduated in 2004, I believe.

He wasn't nearly that big, but Dwight Stewart won a championship with Arkansas in 1994. Something around 6-9 and 260.

I remember watching Kenny George from UNC-Asheville tower over the competition: 7'7" and 370 lbs

http://www.uncabulldogs.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=1301085

Chris Marcus for Western Kentucky back in the early 2000s was quite a big man too.

The one random detail I remember is he was working in a pet shop or something when he was discovered by WKU coaches.

Old, old, old timers may remember the Bobcats recruiting a kid from North Carolina named Geoff Crompton...loads of talent and eventually went to North Carolina. But even Dean Smith couldn't get the kid in shape and he didn't play much. weighed about 3 bills with a big potbelly. Puttered around the NBA for a couple years. Never forget seeing his big fat ass in a Cavs' uniform. Died of leukemia maybe a decade ago.

The kid right now at at Westerville South who is committed to Matta at State in '17, Kaleb Wesson, could stand to lose about 20 lbs...

by the way, I can't remember if he was overweight at St. Johns, but he was a bit heavy in the ABA/NBA:

How could we go this far into the list on not mention Nate Gerwig? Wasn't he a little plump?

Not much bigger than Campbell. Plus size are the guys who walk in a room and you go DAAAAAMMMNN.

From the MAC, I'd mention Nate Vandersluis and Otis Polk.

Barkley was also just 6'4" (according to his own book), and weighed in excess of 250lbs in the 80's, struggling with weight his first three years.

"Round Mound of Rebound" nickname dates back to his college days. Might even pre-date his time at Auburn.

So I guess that's his After photo for the weight loss informercial.

I did not know that.

But even looking back at his underclassmen photos, I wouldn't call him fat. There was still a whole lot of muscle compared to a Tractor Traylor or Oliver Miller.

On the SEC Storied show about Barkley, Frank Thomas and Bo Jackson they talked about Barkley's weight and being out of shape. They showed a part when Barkley's coach made home run "lines" to get in shape. There were garbage cans at each end of the gym so he could puke in them and keep running. If I remember correctly, Batkley and his coach had a come to Jesus meeting about his continuing to be a Tiger. (OT- pretty interesting story line of those 3- Thomas and Bo were at Auburn at same time)

How about Ed Sears and Delvar Barrett?

Who was the walk-on guy from UC a few years ago?
