In 2008 there was a mad scramble where folks argued the merit of a post season tourney.. Now they added one more to the CIT CBI and NIT. Interesting to see how we view that off the 2011 team building beating of Marshall in their house and the ensuing 2012 run. JG saw value and had that written into his contract when he came.

I wonder also how Shaus being in the room at the NCAA affects his usual ability to work on getting us the best situation. http://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/media-center/mens-bas...

It sounds like CMU and somebody else was mentioned last night as already having accepted a bid to CIT? Our AD is a little busy the last 49 hours or so.

That's an interesting perspective, but if JS has shown us one thing over these years he's been here, it's that he's almost always been one step ahead of events.

the record for assists in a single season is 263, by Cooper in 2011, Simmons currently sitting at 250. Coop did it in 35 games (7.5/gm), JS has played 32 so far (7.8/gm). Hope whatever tournament we get into we can make a run.

Was just reading an article about the Vegas tourney and they said what they are trying to do is replicate the bowl game experience for teams. It won't start until March 26th and will take place over 4 days with all the games played in one spot. Interesting concept.

Why not have an NCAA tournament where the first round matters?
Expand the field to 96 Teams with the top 32 seeds getting a first round bye.

Seems to make a lot of sense.

And we would not need a half dozen Mickey Mouse Tournaments.

Or maybe we could have the Disney Mickey Mouse and Goofy Tournament where the Teams could get the Disney Experience they may or may not have missed out on as a child.

My family never took me to Disney or let me join the boy scouts, so I am very bitter.

Dambrot Feigning Ignorance to the process via Arkley's tweet

Zips lose. Do they still get an at-large? What say you Keith Dambrot?

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CdZdhRdWAAAvyUV.jpg

NYTimes article on Wichita St outlines the reality....not that I think the leprechaun reads the NYT http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/13/sports/ncaabasketball/a...

“The common metrics most of us use are KenPom, Sagarin, L.R.M.C., B.P.I., K.P.I.,” the committee chairman, Oklahoma Athletic Director Joe Castiglione, told reporters Wednesday, sounding like an economist rattling off the names of various federal departments.

(A brief translation: KenPom is shorthand for KenPom.com, the site administered by the widely read college basketball analyst Ken Pomeroy; Sagarin is Jeff Sagarin, whose numbers are hosted on USA Today’s website; L.R.M.C. is the Logistic Regression/Markov Chain, which was originated by Joel Sokol, a Georgia Tech engineering professor; B.P.I. is ESPN’s Basketball Power Index; and K.P.I. is a ranking developed by Kevin Pauga, an assistant athletic director at Michigan State.)

In plainer language, Castiglione tried to reassure one reporter despondent over Michigan’s then-tenuous chances: “We’re using more and more metrics than we were in the past. It isn’t just the R.P.I.”

Need to send this to MAC coaches and admin staff so they understand for the MAC to ascend they need all the info.

How does the play-in winner get an 11 seed? Shouldn't they be a 16 seed?

They have done the two 11 seed games for a few years now. It was an attempt to open an additional 2 spots for mid majors, but of course, the committee continues to fill it with major teams.

There are so many flaws in the selection and seeding process that it would require that a pizza be ordered, and a case of beer opened before starting discussion.

The exclusion of Monmouth after the non-conf schedule they played and pulled off is embarrassing if you're on that committee.

The NIT Selection Show is at 8:30 on ESPNU. I expect Akron will be the only MAC team in it but you never know.

I completely agree and then to listen to the moron explain why was laughable. What I got out of it was essentially since they had a couple losses to questionable teams, that completely negated beating top teams...
UCLA, USC, #17 ND, lose by only 3 to Dayton.

**EDIT**

They also beat Georgetown, wow.

The typical double standard answer, as this methodology only affects mid-majors and is thrown out the window for major programs. No matter what you do good, one or two bad things will give them an excuse to exclude you.
