OUr "best fans in the MAC" are invisible.

Want to be fans? Cheer when the going gets tough. Period.

Last nights fans were engaged and active, the way we were seated this eve affected us... Spread out , band opposite of the group, many of our higher level bobcat club members didn't even stand for Stand Up and Cheer during our fight song ... No students that I could see, no Ozone . We have such a huge fanbase... Lacked organization this tourney . Team fought , we as a fan base not so much . Ready for the next post season we enter. I will be hoarse from cheering this great team on. Saul Ball is for real...

Sir, respectfully, OUr fans were weak and quiet tonight. It was crap by my opinion.

Oh I totally agree OU Country-The Thursday night crowd was good . The hierarchy in bobcat club seating relegated many of us to the upper level.. And .. I'm not a Sir.. I'm a chick. A hard core Bobcat Basketball fan.... That bleeds green and always will. I'm disturbed that no student bus was offered . We have such a fanbase, I feel it wasn't addressed properly through media / social media etc .. Go Cats!!

I think your being a little tough on our fans! Every time we started to get up and going the momentum came to a crashing halt with a bad call, a loose ball gobbled up by Buffalo or a Bulls 3 pointer. Not to mention there were very few students. Buffalo or BG's team would have killed to have Ohio's turnout tonight. Not to mention I did not see one Ohio fan walk out early so cut us some slack.

I do get what your saying but at the same time the team just could not sustain the momentum.

I came on the board tonight worn out from the stress of the game and worried about how ugly the comments might be. I was impressed by the generally positive tone despite a poor game on most fronts. I agree with those who see a bright future.

Nice that you managed to find something completely irrelevant to complain about. This board has too many self-ordained fan policemen (the Ozone needs to do X, you need to stand, you need to be loud, you need to be like me). I don't need anyone telling me what kind of fans we have based on their inane criteria. Fans cheer when good things happen. Apparently that's news for you.

I was in attendance, and I was seriously disappointed. 1000 Buffalo fans out cheered 5000+ Ohio fans. Can't say we earned anything to be called best fans.

Well they certainly had a lot more to cheer about.

+1 I was in lower section. Unfortunately, every time we needed a stop in second half we couldn't get it. How do we cheer after Buffalo hits yet another 3?

IMO it's called conference tournament basketball. It's called cheering when the chips are down.

And, yes I was in the Q.

We played and we lost. How anyone cheered or didn't cheer is irrelevant.

So by that logic just stay home and watch on TV

I guess you never had "home court" advantage experience affect your performance - too bad - you don't know what you missed............

OU Country, it seemed like a typical Q crowd for Ohio. I honestly don't know what you're talking about.

I respectfully disagree. We were not as impactful when we needed to be to effect a Beefs run - got loud when we made runs - but not as much sustaining support through the flow of the game as I have been accustomed to.

But it was not by any means the determining factor in the game.

No one expected us to be in this game in November. The team exceeded most all of our expectations, including mine. I am happy where we ended up.

For next year - if we want more - need to improve these embarrassing issues also:

1. DEFENSE. Need a zone option - at least for switching up through the game. I don't see how the man D get's that much better - athletic ability, speed, instincts, lateral and/or lock - not much ability to improve those in one year significantly by coaching....

2. OFFENSIVE REBOUNDING. BG, Kron, Beefs, etc - have a crasher after EVERY shot. We NEVER do (except for the two minutes Taylor is on the floor). Tone from 3 means Big nowhere near the paint after the shot (and everyone else already slowly back-peddling watching the long, high arch of Tone's shot - except for the occasional Setty or Block - but not enough - and while they are slowly backpeddling a deep runner is past them and into the paint and to the hoop).

3. DEFENSIVE REBOUNDING. Blocking out. BBall 101. Issue all year.

I wasn't at the game as I am away for work, but I have seen some really good Q crowds. 2005 is a good example. We filled the arena that year (or seemed to). I was in the Ozone standing with the freshman cheerleaders that year. I was really proud of the fan participation for both the Miami and Buffalo games. That said, Buffalo has a good fan base as well. I remember their students sitting in the upper deck rooting against us during the Miami game. They were loud. From accounts I have read here, this year's crowd in no way came close to measuring up to that. I wish I could have been there. Hopefully next year. :)

Nice that you managed to find something completely irrelevant to complain about.
Home court advantage significantly affects the outcome in college hoops. For example, Kentucky was 17-0 at home this year but 6-8 on the road. Certainly there are a number of considerations involved, but the fans play a non-negligible role.

You've hardly established why fans are completely irrelevant to complain about.

I think you are seriously overestimating last nights attendance. The lower bowl at the Q seats between 10,000-11,000 which means for us to have 5,000 fans there it would have been half full and it was not even remotely close. Ohio had a nice crowd of a couple thousand and Buffalo a couple hundred

The lack of students as well. Since the semester/quarter change this weekend is the beginning of fest season in Athens. When I was in Athens it was the week before finals and it gave us a reason to drive up in between study sessions.

I guess I disagree... While Akron outdrew us, Ohio fans were definitely the loudest and most engaged of the 4, so arguably the "best in the MAC" still holds.

Also 1,000 Buffalo fans is generous, I don't know if they had 300 there.

Additionally, the entire session attendance sucked (6425), everyone drew like crap

I'm wondering if the ability to watch all the tournament games on TV is a detriment to attendance. For years I traveled to Cleveland when OU played. This year I attended every home game but two (out of town on business). This year I went to my granddaughters school play at East Elementary Thursday night, recorded the game and watched it when we got home. Last night we cooked a nice dinner at home and the game came on afterwards. I've truly enjoyed watching this team this year (how could you not after last year's fiasco) but it's very easy to just flip the switch and enjoy the Bobcats from home. 7 hours of driving is a long trip. I wonder how many others feel the same way.

As a former player I can tell you it's nice when the crowd is vocal and on your side. However, you don't need that to motivate you to play harder or is it a factor in a win. It's the fruit of your labor, the cherry on top. Try playing at Eastern Michigan before 100 people. You need more than fan support to motivate you.
