Reghi speculated last night that Tony might jump to the NBA this year. He said that scouts had been following Ohio for the past few weeks and that Tony might get an evaluation after the post-season. Although Tony has great skills, I don't think he's quite at the NBA level yet. A bit too inconsistent. Any thoughts?

Thankfully, he's not nearly ready. Another year of collegiate competition could do wonders as he perfects the skills necessary to be a big man in the NBA.

Reghi speculated on a number of things last night...and did an interview with the MAC brass during a game eschewing the action. 2 teams in the NIT? Tony to the NBA? ..... speculate on things that have legs...

The interview was extremely annoying which is why I missed his hyperbole after that. Watching the game without sound was probably a good decision for me.

He can't defend at THIS level.

Offensively he has NBA talent. Athletically and defensively he's not even close. He'll find a job overseas to make a living if he wants after next season. NBA talk is absurd IMO.

I don't think the NBA talk is completely absurd, but NBA as a Junior talk is.

I'll reserve my judgment on his NBA prospects until next fall when we see how much work he put in the weight room. If he comes in sculpted and able to run the floor better, I could see him being a good bench guy on the right team.

With the way the NBA is going to smaller and smaller line-ups, being 6-8 isn't the problem it would've been 15 years ago.

It's not the height that's relevant, it's the inability to guard on the perimeter. Campbell doesn't have the quickness to be an effective pick and roll defender, which is precisely the reason the NBA's moving to smaller and smaller lineups.

I agree with you. It's not absurd to think that a big who has touch around the rim, and that can shoot 40% from outside, isn't potentially an NBA player. I agree he isn't now, but improve the quickness and defense a little, and he might be.

That's why I want to see if Campbell is legitimately not quick or if he's just not in shape.

He might have a tweener issue, to short to play the four and too slow to play the three. He can p;ay the four to me, he will just have to be a monster on the boards ala Kenneth Faried or Paul Milsap.

I'm not sure of Tone's listed playing height + weight. But he "looks" comparable to Z-Bo, Zach Randolph (as far as body type). Neither will ever be confused with being speed demons or high flyers.

His numbers (points + rebounds), are good. But his #'s + % from three is what has more than likely drawn scouts. As it's all about the stretch 4 in the NBA these days. If any of the talk of the eyeballs on him having increased of late, are true-- he should consider entering the draft (and not signing w/an agent). Solely for the purpose of being evaluated, to gain a better idea of what he needs to work on as a player.

Work on those things, then come back ready to go as a senior. Looking to at the absolute least, duplicate this season's success (both team and personally).

And to Slimmy's point, the NCAA has made the process for declaring/undeclaring far more player friendly this year. I think a lot of underclassmen will take advantage just to get a read on what they need to work on when they return to school.

All about the stretch 4 that can guard other stretch 4s. That's the issue. Teams are increasinly using guys like Carmelo, LeBron, Leonard, Paul George, Tobias Harris, and DeMarre Carroll as stretch 4s. And making it really difficult for teams to play two traditional bigs. Despite his shooting, if a guy like Campbell can't guard quicker 4s or protect the rim, it's going to be really, really hard for him to find a spot in the NBA.
