But as Oats said, Buffalo knew Ohio was thin and their game plan tonight was to run and get Ohio tired. It worked for them.

Buffalo played a very fine game and had a really good game plan. THey're a pretty good team and it was their night last night. It just was.

That said, I can't understand why we didn't do anything to stop their runouts after our missed shots or turnovers. I know that the game isn't as easy as when I played hack ball in pickup games. But when I faced another team getting fast breaks, I immediately made sure that we harassed the rebounder or guy getting the outlet pass--to slow his progress up court. And, the guys who weren't stopping the ball that way all hurried back to set up the D (well, to cover the rest of the other side's players).

Disappointed that we didn't try something to stop their fast breaks as they began. We didn't react to what was killing us.

Because those fast breaks led to them beating us down court which led to scramble defense by us which led to a lot of their very wide open 3-point shots.


Second, shortly after the racehorse start to the second half--that amazing 3-4 minutes in which both sides couldn't miss--we became obviously very exhausted. You could see that exhaustion in inability to chase down rebounds or rotate to cover open guys. We should have called a timeout or several. That was when the game was beginning to get away from us due to fatigue. We desperately needed to call timeout(s) so that we could re-group.

And, KK put up a few very quick, long 3balls..as usual..which, if they missed (and they did), were sure to lead to Beef runouts as we had no one in position to rebound. Better to have not fired it up, to have run our offense.


All in all though, the way Buffalo played, they were going to win last night. That one night, they were too good.

Looking forward to next year.

And the years after.

It seemed that either we looked slow or we actually are slow, but either way that contributed to Beefs dictating tempo and getting good looks in transition, from both in close and out on the perimeter. And since we missed so many shots, they were in transition quite a bit. If we can add some depth (addition of Carter, development of Taylor) this may not be a problem going forward, but as of today, it's still a concern.
