Hi gang -
A Cleveland area OU alum posting here. Looking forward to an exciting MAC tourney in my hometown. I've enjoyed following the 'cats from afar though I did see them in person against Cle St in December. I think it is a wide open field this year. For those coming into town, an earlier poster mentioned some new hotels coming on line. This is true. With the RNC arriving soon, the city is awash in construction. Four new hotels will open by the convention. You might consider The Schofield. It is opening tomorrow and looks to be a beautiful renovation. It is a kimpton hotel brand.
http://www.theschofieldhotel.com It is within a 7 minute walk to The Q and about 4 blocks north of Jacobs (progressive) Field. They've done a very nice job renovating it. I'd recommend parking at the PNC garage. It should have favorable rates compared to the hotels. It is across the street from the property and offers reserved parking on floors 1-2, but open on three and up. Secure.
Looks like Schofield has some favorable rates this weekend. Keep in mind there is some risk here with the hotel not yet open and untested. Hopefully the staff works out the kinks early this week.
Other new things you might consider. Check out the Heinen's grocery across the street from The Schofield. An impressive renovation puts a local grocer in a rather stunning building. A very nice wine and beer selection on the second floor with regular tasting options. Also, The 9 - directly across from The Schofield and adjacent to the Heinen's. Another nicely done renovated hotel with two nice bars inside and a swanky Vault club downstairs (at 38, I am too old for the Vault scene :(
Go Bobcats and I hope to see many of you supporting OUr team in Cleveland this week!
