Winner of our game would face the winner of UNC Greensboro vs Houston Baptist. Both those teams are under .500. Why would the CBI match up two of the better teams in this thing in Ohio and Albany, while matching up two sub .500 teams?
My GUESS (and that's all this is) is this was a conscious decision by the coaches of the respective teams when they accepted the tourney invite. Meaning - we said, hey we want at least one guaranteed tough game to challenge our guys in the tournament environment. Might as well. Nothing to lose when in these lower tournaments.
Similarly UNCG and Houston Baptist (no idea HOW they even got into this) probably said - hey, give us a lower equal opponent to get some more tourney experience without getting killed.
Both cases the thinking is on helping/building the respective teams for next year and NOT about results in this tournament. As it should be.
Looks like Ohio and Albany are pretty evenly matched in the computer models.
Agreed. See my post in the "other" Albany CBI thread.
