I sort of hate both teams. I'm sitting this one out. I think an Akron win helps them more than it helps Ohio. That's what it comes down to me.
While I prefer to never have to listen to osu fans at all, I think it's better to hear "well, osu is having a down year" after they lose, than to hear "hey we still beat the best team in the MAC in a down year" if they win.

Plus, if Akron pulls this off maybe Gene Smith will mortgage the Schott to buy out Matta and replace with Dambrot! It's a win-win, baby!

BTC is right they do it quick but not that quick. Worked mens basketball and all concerts there for 6 years. We once had, not sure which order, a hockey game around noon and a basketball game in the evening. They have a very good crew that does it all. Superivsors are OSU people rest are thru the union of that craft. Concerts one night ball games next day to hockey the next night they get plenty of practice at the changes.

I am not sure how this came up. Did Matta suddenly tranform them into a Basketball school where they care about records and results? I am pretty sure I have missed any talk from anyone I Know or anywhere I have read that Matta was the object of fans desire for better hoops.

Over 7 minutes in to the game and it's 5-5. This is the sloppiest game I've seen in a long time.

Zippy played good defense but was uncharacteristically cold from three. They go down in OT.

Big fat dog missed a boatload of free throws that should have won the game. Zips keep their string of post season successes intact.

And at least 10 missed free throws. Yikes.

I feel ashamed that I was rooting so hard for them to win.

The biggest complaint heard from o$u fans this winter centers on the team's free-throw shooting. What does o$u shoot from the line v. Akron? over 90% at 21-of-23. Meanwhile, Akron, led by Big Dog, hits 8-of-20.

Akron will be kicking itself for a long time after that one. They missed a ton of threes and free throws in an OT loss. One of the worst shooting nights I've seen from the Zips in a long time.

staggering to think of the ways they find to lose. Northwestern, Bucknutzz, etc...amazing how they can muck up the conference yearly but can't seem to use the days to put together a decent scout.

I would ask the mods to pin this permanently, hall of fame style.

But 'kron's pretty much already done that to themselves so no need.

I will state "FOR THE RECORD" I am not a fan of KD.
My thoughts on the game;
1) They shot 9-43 from 3......You live by the 3 you die by the 3.
2) KB hasn't won either an NCAA or NIT game in his career. What does that say about his coaching ability?????????????? It's an example of the Peter Principle at it's best.

They really choked this one away. Not only did they throw up serious bricks all night but the tying basket that sent the game to OT was just a brain-fart by Kretzer. He secured the loose ball rebound and even though he had a guard standing right next to him he decided to pass it to another guard 15 feet away under the basket. Unfortunately Jaquan Lyles was standing in the way and Kretzer threw it right to him. They did do a good job on defense most of the night but when the game was there to be won they puckered hard.

This is why, when the question's asked which would you rather have, Akron's extended period of MAC dominance or Ohio's brief moment in the sun when it won 3 March Madness games in 2 years, I always think that I'd much rather win a couple of NCAA tourney games rather than win none yet rule the MAC for a decade. I'd much rather be remembered for winning on the big stage occasionally than perpetually losing on it. ( I SO WANTED to type "loosing" just to yank Borna's chain :) )

Couldn't agree more. Give me NCAA wins over Georgetown, Michigan and South Florida. Plus, a missed fT away from beating North Carolina and advancing to Elite 8 over anything Akron has accomplished over the past decade. It must drive Zippy Nation nuts.

They can't count past 2 anyway, so they're not to upset about it.
