I like KK. So, this is nothing personal:

I hope that he enjoys his role on the 2nd team next year.

He has too many holes in his game to be a starter. Someone who can consistently rebound and play defense, and be a bit of a threat, at least, at 3ball should start over him.

The advantage of him coming off the bench is that he can play against the opposition's second team. I'm guessing that this will make him a lot more effective as second team defenders won't be able to stop him as well as first team guys. Plus, the holes in his game won't be as detrimental to us against second teamers as they are against starters.

And, we can spot him in with the first team as needed during later stages of games.

I've been saying this for a few weeks now. I think KK would be more effective as the 6th man. A guy who can come off the bench for 15 to 20 minus a game and hit 3's. I think Block starts next year. His mental and physical toughness is one of this teams biggest assets. He can draw a charge and really get under opponents' skin, get them off their game. With a bit more coaching and practice, he ccould be the defensive force this team can build upon.

Did I hear someone say he could possibly petition the NCAA for another year? I know he has next year. Someone mentioned it so I thought I would ask the masses.

I'm not against KK as the 6th man and it makes sense to pencil in Block as the replacement for Setty next year since he was our main bench guy this year...

BUT..Holy crap is that a small lineup. Simmons/Dartis/Block/KK/Campbell ? That's essentially 4 guards and a stretch 4.

To run with the move Kaminski to the bench idea, I think I'd almost rather see something like Simmons/Dartis/Block/Campbell/Taylor as our starting 5 next year. Second unit could be - insert recruit backup PG/Laster/KK/Carter/Mompremier. I actually like the looks of that. Could be honestly 9/10 deep with good bench scoring.

Not sure what it means in terms of next year's starting lineup/rotation, but anyone notice who Saul had lining up at the low block when opposing player was shooting a foul shot and Ohio's lineup on the floor included Campbell, Block and either KK or Setty? It was Campbell and Block, who is 2-4 inches shorter than Setty/KK. Tells you something about his block (no pun attended) out technique.

Block is a max effort and fundamentals type of kid with toughness. He proved it by grabbing 8 boards in the quarters against NIU. He could play the spot in a pinch or for spurts, but he's just not going to be a starting PF all year. We need somebody with some more size to replace Treg. Unless we're just punting rebounds and interior defense next year.

why hope that KK's should gets back to 100% and that he works really hard in the summer to improve his game when we can simply banish him to he bench because he didn't meet some sort of expectation we put upon him? its so much easier.

a reminder that coming into this season Mike Laster was 3rd on the team behind Setty and Campbell in total minutes played in college. We have a talented but inexperienced bunch, silly to write people off so quickly.

No one is in any way writing off KK. Glad to have him on the team.

But it would be great to have him come in for instant offense.

Yes, it's probably not going to work with Block at the 4. Hopefully, someone else can fully fill that role.

I'm a big Laster fan. Competes. Plays defense.

As far as who replaces Setty, I think Jason Carter will probably fill that role. Whether he starts next year at some point or not like Dartis did this year depends on him. In the scenario of moving KK to the 6th man role, I would replace him with Doug Taylor at the 4, if he is ready. Ellis Dozier will be in the role Doug is this year. Block I can see as the starter in Treg's spot at the beginning of next year, with Jason coming off the bench, learning the system. Even with Setty gone, the team will be much deeper and more experienced next year. We will still be weak at the wing. I think Saul got his hopes up for Khari early on this year, but quickly learned he isn't ready to be that guy. Hopefully he continues to develop and can be a bigger contributor next year, even off the bench.

How do you figure we'll be much deeper with everyone back except one guy and a very important guy at that? Yes, there will be a year of experience for those who played this year but as another poster correctly pointed out, so will every other team in the MAC. And I hate to bring this up, but we played the entire year without serious injury. A tweaked ankle or worse for Simmons and we would have been in deep trouble facing relentless pressing by every team we faced. A great spring and summer for Taylor and we'll be able to battle the likes of Akron and Buffalo on the boards and contend for the east title.

I wonder if harley will be back ? .. He went from starting to playing sparingly to not even playing when the walk-ons came in during games w/ large leads ..

What's the story with harley ? .. Is it the back injury still ?

Alan spot on with our injury free season. Jauronn is clearly the key to the engine that makes the Bobcats run. I've stated before I'm concerned how much Saul needs to ride him hard and put him away wet because of our limited options to spell him. I think the summer development of Gollon will be critical if for nothing else but to be able to give Simmons some rest in spots.

This was discussed at length at a party I was at least night. The speculation ended with the idea that Saul and Harley probably already know what will be happening next year. I didn't even notice be wasn't on with the walk on's Thursday.
