This team is a work-in-progress. I expect them to be much better at the end of the season than they are now. Right now we just have too many guys who have not played together long enough to have much chemistry. To use an old phrase, they have yet to "jell." I'm confident that they will, but it might be half way through the conference season. All that being said, I think our chances against St. Bonaventure would have been better if Dartis hadn't been home sick with the stomach flu.
Good call!

my comment on this thread was that based on the performance I had just witnessed (game 2 of the season I think) OHIO was not a 20-win team. and, frankly, at the time, we were not. 20 is still in front of us, and seems likely, but I agree it's not a lock. @ Akron + @ a Miami team that seems to have found themselves lately. Lord knows what that will mean as far as where and vs whom in the tourney opener.
The thing is that you were also basing that performance on a flawed perception of the team we were playing. Tennessee State just thrashed a very good Belmont team for their 20th win on the season. They were that night, and have been all year, a good defensive team. In retrospect the 8 point win over Tennessee State turned out to be a much better win than the 10 point win over Florida Gulf Coast that everyone was so giddy about.
You are absolutely right, but our well documented problems from the early portion of the season were very prevalent in that game.

Forest Cat, I know what you meant. I'm saying you can't make that call that early in the year. It's a long season. Look at John Rhodes Duquesne team. Not too long ago you(meaning you) might have predicted 20 wins for them. They had 15 to end January. However, they didn't win a game in February and are 15-14 right now.

True, you can't make that call. I wasn't making the call. I was simply saying that based on that one performance Ohio didn't look like a 20-win team. It's certainly no more unreasonable than starting a topic about being a 20-win team based on the game 1 performance against a FGC team we all knew had lost a lot of experience.

No. Bobcatt1998 called it from the very start--so credit to him or her.

Deal with what? Do you just have a phrase dart board you use? What are you trying to to say?

Thanks for the reminder that just this once I knew what I was talking about. This may be an example of the blind squirrel finding the acorn, but I'd like to believe that it is an indication of the mature wisdom that comes with my geezer status.

If you were right it was pure luck. I see no point in making predictions, but that seems the way of the world. If you're not predicted to win , you were disrespected, blah, blah, blah. It is pure folly, unless you are gambling with real money.

I'm envisioning something that more closely resembles the Plinko Board on the Price is Right.

With about 2 1/2 hours before tipoff, and Ohio sitting at 19 wins, I have absolutely zero doubt Ohio will reach 20 wins tonight.

Why? The local radio station played The Doobie Brothers' Long Train Running this afternoon during my drive home from work. Put a tally in the win column for the Bobcats. Mark it down.

I know, I know...it's only one win and it's the first game of the year but does anyone on here truly doubt that we can be a contender in the MAC THIS YEAR? Kenny shoots horribly from 3. As a team we shoot horribly from 3 and we still beat an athletic, tough team from a tough conference with a strong program by 10! Are you kidding me? Treg doesn't score a bunch. Tony in foul trouble. What a win. And Doug Taylor, Wadley, Laster, even Block and Gollon in short minutes...just a great TEAM win. Haven't seen that since Groce!

1998--You are the man. You called it correctly on 11/14/15.

No Crazy Train. However, I did hear Al Stewart's Year of the Cat earlier in the week.

I would like to thank the academy and my family for all of their support. I would also like to thank Tony Campbell and Jaaron Simmons for stepping up and playing like Co-MVP's for the season in the MAC. An extra big thanks to Treg for being a rock and for Dartis for surpassing anything I could have imagined.

I was excited after that first game and have to admit that after our loss to NIU I was thinking (hoping) for 15 wins. But this team has definitely stepped up. Great job by all players for being so unselfish!

Without peer??? I love that. My hope is that both of OUr teams win. I feel like the women repeat and our men lose in semis but claim a CIT title!
