And Simmons should burn the game tape.
I don't think totally. He obviously didn't play nearly as well tonight but it looked like some of his turnovers were the result of a little miscommunication with his teammates. He also made a huge driving layup that got our 2nd half run started.

It looked like Tennessee State's defense had a little confused to start the game and we settled for a lot of deep shots. Our halfcourt offense struggled most of the night but the times we were able to get uptempo we did well.

This is a work in progress but very promising IMO.

I just love thinking that we have a chance in every game we play after a year of praying that Bean would get hot.
Mo would decide to give a crap and Stevie would finally play under control. And while I will miss Treg this team is being built for next year!

In about a month, we have a four game stretch where we play Ohio Dominican, Jackson State, Arkansas Pine Bluff and UC Riverside consecutively

We're going to win some more games this season.

This Tennessee State team would be tough in the MAC.
No. No they wouldnt. They are doormat of one of worst leagues in country. They won't win 10 games.

Ohio fortunate to dodge an embarrassing, bad loss at home.

This is why I seriously doubt 20 wins. The MAC is 17-4 on the year. So far it looks like a good league with no freebee wins. I'm guessing the MAC ends up #10 maybe with the Power 6, A10, MWC, and American better.

Those 17 wins:

Cleveland State
Hiram College
Florida Gulf Coast
Tennessee State
University of New Orleans
Youngstown State
Pitt-Bradford
Kenyon College
Cal State Northridge
South Dakota
Wright State
Jacksonville State
Alma (?????????)
Vermont
West Virginia Tech
Eastern Illinois
San Diego

I think we can pump the brakes on how good the MAC might be this year.

Tennessee State is going to be better than they were last year. Were they a great team? No. Ohio played rather poorly and freshmen stepped up and made plays. But a win is better than a loss. Take it and run.

My coach used to say you could have wins, losses and escapes. This was definitely an escape.

I've been saying for years we need to lock DFC's account during games and the proceeding 24 hours.

Tonight will be a good measuring stick for the MAC. 6 games with 5 on the road. The lone home game is BG hosting Cincinnati.

Buffalo @ St. Joes
Cincinnati @ BGSU
EMU @ Oakland
Toledo @ Youngstown St.
Akron @ Arkansas
Kent St. @ Southern Illinois

Toledo wins and Akron wins. The rest lose. Kent played SIU tight.

Who is our Rachel Phelps? We need a cardboard cutout we can remove articles of clothing from.

While I will say I am encouraged at this point I will still hold off making any prognostications further than what I stated prior to the start of this season till we get into the conference schedule.
The OOC play can be deceiving as we have seen in the past, Last nights game is one example. Marshall is awful, haven't won a game this year. Having said this we need to win these games and not take any team lightly.

Well......I am sure our roving CBS sideline reporter would take it in good stride.

This team is a work-in-progress. I expect them to be much better at the end of the season than they are now. Right now we just have too many guys who have not played together long enough to have much chemistry. To use an old phrase, they have yet to "jell." I'm confident that they will, but it might be half way through the conference season. All that being said, I think our chances against St. Bonaventure would have been better if Dartis hadn't been home sick with the stomach flu.

Sorry I used the injury excuse (or in this case sick excuse). I know that's unacceptable.

So that OCF will not be angry at me for not making any kind of season prediction (he has anger mgmt, apparently), I stand by my prediction that we'll be tough come MAC tourney time.

Growing pains and a bit uneven along the way but BetterCallSaul at the end.
