Since 2003, MAC teams not named OHIO are oh-fer the NCAA tourney.

Who'd have thunk that in 2003? The MAC was producing sweet 16 teams and elite 8 teams. The thing is the MVC and WCC are still sometime doing that with similar conference RPIs. Mid-major depth, where thw MAC excels better than any league outside the power 6, A10, AAC, & MWC, gets you next to nothing. It's up to the teams at the top to do something.

Still, 12 seeds win in this thing every year. Often two do. Its pretty amazing how futile other schools have been.

Found a nice site with tourney info, so nice to see Akron near the bottom of a list. :) The MAC had a good stretch for 5 years with the Wally's Miami team and then the Kent State runs. But since that time as you said only OHIO has been able to do any kind of damage in the tournament. However both those teams were book-ended by DJ Cooper. So it will be interesting to see what the next OHIO roster to make it does.

At least Buffalo made a game of it while Akron the last time embarrassed the MAC losing 88-42.

MAC needs to survive and advance. Ridiculous to play for a crown in CLeveland then go up in smoke
