Not as bad as JC's BC team, but close: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/2016/03/10/r... /

It's his 3rd season so I contend it is worse.

I didn't think JC lost 32 conference games in a row.

According to the papers and sports radio out here RU is looking for a "name" coach.

That was the thought with the guy they fired.
Former player from their "glory" year.
He just couldn't recruit talent.

Thing is,who in their right mind wants to coach there.
Money is one thing, but BB has been bad forever.
The RAC is a joke.8000 seats and very tired inside.
They would love a new arena, but no one is gonna pay for it.

The story line out here is that the only reason they got into the B1G was to get the Big Ten Network into the NY/NJ/Conn. market.

About the only "major' sport they're competative in is wrestling.

When has any of Rutgers major programs ever shown sustained success? The key words are major and sustained! Womens basket can be argued so I will give you that. It's a joke that Rutger was added to the BIG. They have been a doormat in every league in which they have called home. The BIG was just trying to add precious cable subscriptions to the BTN.

I'd like to know what Rutgers is doing with those fat Big Ten Network paychecks...

Recruiting talent is over rated. Recruiting potential and character would be my first two recruitment criteria and not necessarily in that order.

I don't want to be "that guy" but If Ohio wins the MAC Tourney, and especially they go on to win a game in the Big Dance, Coach Phillips will be on several teams' radar. He might be right now for all I know.

I was looking for another thread where I thought there was talk about the coaching carousel, couldn't find it. Regardless, has anyone heard/read that Jamie Dixon is being considered at TCU? And it's apparently serious consideration on his part. Apparently it's where he went to school.

I thought I saw that the Stony Brook coach got the Rutgers job.

Dixon is gone. He had a 10M buyout and was signed until 2023. They negotiated a smaller buyout, but TCU still paid a boatload to get him. He was making 3.2M at Pitt. If I'm a TCU alum, don't ever ask me for a donation.

It's a double edged sword - on the field success at many schools is proven to actually increase enrollment applications and donations. So I hear your point, but at some schools the reality is that it's worth it.

From ESPN's write up Dixon's departure: "TCU hasn't won a tournament game since 1987, when Dixon was on the roster."

TCU will never compete in the Big 12. They will throw away their money and Jamie Dixon will pick it up.
