It’s a half yes answer. There are teams in the conference we need to play at or near our best if we want to win.

There are no excuses for Ohio to lose at Buffalo. They are improved compared to last year but still much closer to the bottom of D1 than the middle levels.

In Mount Pleasant Saturday. Classes don't start till a week from Monday. Game Tuesday at UB.

Did the team fly from Saginaw to Buffalo or simply bus through Canada, spend some time at Niagara Falls and bonding. Eat some wings one day and go get roast beef on Weck another? How does the team fill a few days when on a trip like this?

There are still difficult road victories in the MAC. I still think Ohio has not been anywhere close to their best version of themselves, and for that reason I am glad these are the 2 road games we are starting with. Regardless of circumstance, to start out a "-2 in the golf standings" is huge.

Akron. Toledo. Kent State.

Same as every year. Getting run out of the building is unlikely (hopefully), but there are no circled wins when we play them. If you want to win the MAC, you have to win those games.

Those are tough games regardless of record. Especially on the road.

I struggle to understand how these experts come up with this spread.
Can anyone explain it?

Buffalo currently has the lowest point differential in the MAC at -8 points per game.

OU is in the middle with +4.

Guessing that has a lot to do with it.

(You notice the line changes leading up to a big game like the Super Bowl? The sports books/casinos have to get more people betting the other side if too many are going with a certain side. Avoid losing their ass if an upset happens. They make money of the vig either way so they prefer a balance of bets between the two sides)

Torvik has it a 10 point spread 83-73 us. Haslametrics has it at 11 points, 83.2-72.2.

I'd say 10.5 is right in line with the analytics.
