Our leading scorer only gets 5 shots and zero FTs.

Too bad Pav doesn’t learn to pass the ball when he drives the lane. He’s 6 foot tall and he’s not gonna score versus interior players.
Ha ha ha, so he finally makes one. Fortunately, all of our bags were out of the lane and he just had one guy to beat.

Our D is awful. Rightfully worst in nation Vs 3. That’s continuing. No one can cover Dawson? And our O is lost. Terrible shooting, limited movement. Hero ball. Works when you hit shots. We don’t. And we are so soft at the rim. Captain Chaos has not improved his offensive game. Chad Gill is more of a scoring threat in the paint than Chaos.

Boals can’t win a road game.

Anyone see this getting better moving forward this season? Where are we getting road wins? To have one week to prepare for Marshall and give this effort is brutal.

I believe the last three possessions… No points. At least we didn’t give up 80… Only 79.

I had hopes for a NCAA Tournament appearance.

Now I am hoping for a MAC Tournament appearance.

They only beat Morehead by 3 at home. We blew more than 9 points on bonehead plays to lose by 9. I hope our guys take this out on APSU.

Where is Mitchell? Isn't he supposed to be healthy by now?
Need some intel on Mitchell, his ball handling talent, and scoring would be worth 8 to 10 points per game.

Embarrassing first half.

I don’t care that Marshall is at home. They are not good.

Can Boals just not win road games?

Prove me wrong Jeff in the second half.
This is exactly why Boals can not get power four teams to play him. They can't find power four games. Yet Kent faces Bama and Auburn and Toledo plays Purdue and Houston. Yep, if you all believe that load of BS, keep on buying ocean front property in Coolville.

Check out the games that my old neighbor James Jones gets at Yale. This is an off year with only Purdue and Minnesota but last year he had Gonzaga and Kansas.

If Boals doesn’t get athletic bigs into this program who can play from day one immeidiately, I feel like things will remain this way in the future. The teams we’ve had since Dwight Wilson left are just too small and we are softer than Charmin at the rim. Beyond frustrating to watch.

Boals does not recruit what I would term athletes at any position. AJ Brown has not materialized. Clayton and Hadaway kind of show it but not consistently. Pavs, Elmore, Reef--not what I think of as athletes when I think off guys like Sin Carry on other teams. Walter Offutt was an athlete. Rico Johnson when healthy was an athlete. Jon Smith--we are missing those type of guys.

I agree that Boals does not recruit athletes. I also know from my days back at the University Cincinnati with Bob Huggins, all he did was recruit athletes. You can teach athletes basketball. But you can’t teach athleticism to non-athletes. Most of our players are just flat out slow of foot. That’s why they can’t play good defense. Then there is a whole strategy to guard the lane and not the three-point line. That’s flat out stupid coaching nowadays.

It's one thing to have a disappointing OOC season but when we start losing to bad Marshall teams I get pissed off. I think this loss is worse than the Illinois State loss.

Clayton & Searls 5 for 5 from 2...but let's jack 30 three pointers instead. We are under 33% for the season.

JP had 12 assists and overall as a team we actually had a decent game passing. If we actually hit shots it could've been even better. As with most of the games this season, rebounds, turnovers, etc are all pretty equal...it's just shooting. We don't defend it well and don't do it well ourselves.

Finished OOC 0-4 on the road, 3 of which very comparable/beatable opponents. Doesn't give me a lot of confidence on those road trips to the directional Michigans, etc. They really need an awakening over the holidays.

And, why is this? I think that there is a psychological aspect to this. We give up so many three that we think we have to counter by jacking up threes, but we don't have a lot of good three-point shooters. We'd probably be better to concentrate on two-point shots. Of course, we miss a lot of short-range shots, too, but if we concentrated on that part of the game more, our two-point shooting percentage might be better.

Grasping for straws here, but something needs to be done different going forward or we are going to be lucky to get a CIT/CBI bid at the end of the regular season.
