By my calculation, 40 days before the first scheduled game is this coming Wednesday, September 26. It should be the first official day of practice. In recent years we don’t get many reports until the season starts. Are folks allowed to attend practices who might be able to report in?

Wednesday is the 25th, FYI. But yes, that's correct, Wednesday is the first eligible "official" practice day.

They, like every other "D1" team, have been practicing since June.

Sorry to hear that just a handful witnessed the open scrimmage game last weekend since it was not announced and apparently the word of the game didn't travel.

Any notes from the game? Just an intra-squad?

This would have been a great opp to add some value to Ohio Bobcat Club membership. Exclusive access to the scrimmage. Oh well.

They did this a year or two back on the same day as a home football game, if I remember right. I went to that one, but did not hear about any scrimmage this year.

I like the depth of this year's team based on the fact that if I divide the intrasquad teams up I feel like it'd be a great game:
PG: Ajay Sheldon vs. PG Jackson Paveletzke
SG: Shereef Mitchell vs. SG: Elijah Elliott
C: AJ Clayton vs. C: Vic Searls
PF: Ben Nichol vs. PF: Aidan Hadaway
SF: AJ Brown vs. SF: Elmore James
Bench: Ayden Evans vs. Jesse Burris/Kiir Kuany when he arrives

It was a intrasquad game. Also heard they played Duquesne soon.

Heard through the grapevine 'Cats won the Duquesne scrimmage by 8 points. Don't know how to measure that considering Dukes are being completely rebuilt w/a new coach and were picked 8th preseason in the A-10.

Perhaps should have beaten them by more than that ... or not. Heard Boals had an 8-man rotation but have no clue who started and who didn't. But did hear Pavlo was a stud and the leading scorer. Also heard team overall was hot on 3-pointers.

Again, Dukes are being rebuilt and this is October so digest that as you will.

Also ... don't know the scrimmage guidelines and that makes a difference as well.

'USUALLY' ... teams go something like 15 min 1-on-1s, 15-min 2-on-2, 15-min vs. man defense, 15-min vs. zone defense, 10-15 minutes for backups. Combine the scores and declare a winner.

But if you're a defensive minded team, and you win the 1-on-1 and man defense segments, but lose all others, you might not be that upset. And vice-versa. So while these are great and much needed, you really need to know the particulars to know if the scrimmage was successful, and I don't have that info.

Sorry.

With the pre-season ranks out, I as a fan, am thrilled to be at the top of the mountain. Just hope Boals is humbling OUr guys in practice everyday and taking a underdog approach.

To be the best you gotta beat the best, and that starts with Akron.

Thanks for the update OUcat. Yeah, hard to read too much from the score of an unknown formated scrimmage. But I do like that Paveletzke is showing out. I had a feeling after Coach's AI generated hype announcement on Twitter, that he would have an impact.
As for the 8 man rotation? I'll go with Sheldon, Pavs, Shareef, Elmore, Aiden, AJ Brown, AJ Clayton and Vic...

Go Bobcats!
