Wild that 22 is too old to be a prospect.
Seth Towns, who was in the tourney this year in his EIGHTH year, is older than Jayson Tatum. Wrap your head around that one.

RJ Dennis did a great job for Baylor via the Rocket portal. Baylor just grabbed QB Dequan Finn from Toledo the MAC player of the year this past fall. Money talks!

He single-handedly kept Alabama from losing to Grand Canyon. None of his teammates could do anything.

I wish I could be excited about this fact, but given the circumstances surrounding his departure, I cannot.

Two former Bobcats were on at the same time. Sears and YaYa Felder playing for Baylor.

Some may still hold ill will towards Sears, but I don't. He made the most of his opportunity after 2 solid years here and is a key player on his home state team that might well end up in the Final 4 after this weekend. Alabama, in general, is an interesting team IMO. 4 of their 5 starters last night are transfers from mid-majors. Pringle (Wofford), Sears (Ohio), Nelson (N Dakota St), and Estrada (Hofstra). Estrada did have a stint at Oregon, but then bounced to Hofstra before Alabama.

Think its pretty safe to assume that MAC POTY will depart the conference every year moving forward if they have eligibility left. Not necessarily a MAC problem but why wouldn't a P5 school go after any G5 POTY? Until G5's can pay up this will be the norm I predict.

He's had his fun, its time for Bama to lose. Sorry not sorry.

I'm no expert and I don't gamble, but I would not bet on Alabama losing to Clemson. No slight against Clemson, they are where they are for good reason, I just like Bama to win this region.

Sears is short for the NBA. Height is a factor.

Has Mark Sears Mom always been this annoying? They love to show her everytime he shoots a free throw as she does his same shooting routine...

Sorry not sorry.

Sears raining threes tonight against Clemson... They still show his mom every chance they get. Bama to the final four as a result.

Idk how to feel seeing him succeed at this level. At one end I'm happy for him and would accept the same offer, but I feel stiffed at the same time he decided to leave. Crazy how he went from 157 turnovers his last year here to around 70 this year for 'Bama in the SEC.

My gf and I ran into him at Nelson right after he declared for the portal, and let's just say I wasn't the most happy to see him at that time.

1st Bobcat to the Final Four!

*And yeah, before Alan Swank replies that he was there in the Garden in 1941, with Frankie Baumholz finishing 2nd in the NIT...

Guys…I may be in the minority but I thought we always say “ once a Bobcat, always a Bobcat”. I am happy that Sears was able to take his skills, work hard, and be a part of a Final Four team. He got his start at Ohio. Let’s face it, given the current environment Ohio would probably never be able to give him this opportunity. So, I will be rooting for Alabama this final four…not that I like them at all! It is schools like Alabama that have made this environment that is not a remotely level playing field.

I am very torn. I loved him as a Bobcat, I feel like I was one of the first to really start hyping him and pleading for more playing time his freshman year. I like the way he plays the game and the way he carries himself on the court.

Do we want guys who leave here to be a success story of viewing us as a stepping stone (Sears)...or a cautionary tale of grass isn't always greener (Simmons)? I don't know the answer to that either.

And I've heard the stories of how he left, and they're upsetting. I am not sure just how upset I should be over it. SO just a lot of uncertainty in general.

Overall I will confess I am enjoying him go to work and excited to see him in the final four.

Can you give me a snapshot of why we are supposed to hate Nate Oats?

Maybe someone can explain the same about Mark Sears it's not like he transferred to another MAC level program.

Good for Sears.

When he was here, the main criticism was that he didn't show up in big games against majors, and struggled with athletic defenders. He's now the best player on a Final Four team.

To me, Sears + OU always seemed like a marriage of convenience. He was under recruited and we have a Hargrave connection. So it didn't surprise me that he wanted to be back in Alabama and to test himself at a higher level.

Pretty much impossible for me to hold it against him given the results.

Sears is playing great basketball. Alabama isn't going to run the table and Sears goes home soon.

So does Boals incorporate this into his recruiting pitches?

“Come to Ohio and after two years we’ll send you to a power 6 school where you can lead them to the Final Four.”

Better yet, "Come to Ohio, back up a future NBA draft pick (JP) before replacing him in the starting lineup, and after two years we'll send you to a power 6 school where you can lead them to the Final Four."

Personally, there isn't a word in the English language that describes my indifference on this matter.

It's bittersweet for sure. While he may not have left in the best way, it was inarguably the right call from a financial, status and success standpoint. I don't blame Sears or any player for chasing bigger money and bigger things, but it's emblematic of the unsustainable nature of this semi-pro setup. The playing field was never level, but with today's transfer rules, MAC schools like us will never be more than a farm team. The days of catching a DJ Cooper or Gary Trent and holding them for their whole college career are ancient history. Frankly makes me less and less interested every year. Even if I were a fan of a big-time team with deep pockets, it all feels very mercenary. We already have pro leagues and now we're effectively just making more of them, but it's even worse because the whole apparatus is propped up by hundreds of subsidized athletic departments paying to be part of a for-profit enterprise that rewards them less and less each year.
