Yeah...Ohio advances to play a team that won and still is 3 games under .500! Pathetic! This tournament is AWFUL!

I'm not anti CBI, but playing a team below .500 should not be allowed by the folks who run this tournament. Oh well, go out and get another win.

Man....I would be happy if we were playing a box of rocks if it meant we get another game this season. There is value in playing when other teams are home even if the opponent a "pathetic" 3 games under .500. Big whoop! Keep winning!

In a sense, the CBI is college basketball's version of the very minor bowls in college football. Like Saul said after the loss to Buffalo, if football can have all those bowl games, why can't basketball have the CBI?

UNCG is 12-18 vs D1 teams and have an RPI of #237. They are 2-9 in non conference play with wins against #288 Jacksonville in November and #225 Houston Baptist tonight.

I like our chances.

They do have a plus .500 conference record so may not be an easy out as the record indicates. Can't be any tougher than Albany though.

Siena went down to Morehead St. I seriously think OUr guys have about a 50/50 chance to be the CBI champion.

The real question is do you put up a banner for that? :)

Heck yes you put up a banner for the CBI championship, if it happens. More games equals more playing time for our guys. Harley got more PT tonight and Doug Taylor and Jordy played a bunch. Gavin didn't play a whole lot but more games for young guys helps everyone. I hope we can win this whole thing. I would take a CBI title after a 10-20 season any day.

I'd really love to know the story on how the bottom few teams in the CBI ended up in the tourney. Did the CBI get turned down by like 100 other schools first? We're they chosen for some specific reason?

Can you imagine being a UNC-G fan and hearing at the end of yout 12-16 season that you're playing in a postseason tourney? How weird would that be?

The Vegas 16 only filled 8 of its 16 spots, the CIT only filled 26 of its 32 spots, but the CBI managed to fill all 16 of its spots.

We have a banner up for winning a "preseason" tournament - so why not for any post season tournament?

I know of at least 2 teams with good records who declined any post season tourney because of too many injuries to their respective teams, one being Kent State and the other being North Dakota State who finished with a 20-13 record losing to South Dakota State in the Summit Championship. Then you have LSU who refused any tourney including the NIT after not getting into the Big Dance.

I don't really have a problem with the number of these other tournaments out there. What I have a problem with is them being filled by teams with losing records while there are plenty of teams with winning records still out there. That is the issue. People are comparing this to when bowl teams get in with losing records. It's not the same. There were 3 bowl teams with losing records but there weren't any teams with winning records they were picked over. They got in because there were three spots to fill. Big difference. There are a bunch of teams with winning records in basketball not playing. Yes some declined invitations, but to have a field like this with several bad teams, it completely wipes out any validity this "tournament" tried to have this year.

What a joke! How does a team that bad get invited let alone accepted into this tournament???

LOL. And it was you who claimed the Buffalo game was a lock. You said:

"Relax. Ohio's gonna win. Just relax and enjoy."

Now you bitch and moan about CBI. Your b-ball knowledge leaves a bit to be desired.

If one of the purposes of playing on was getting kids more experience, well that didn't really happen tonight as the 5 starters played a combined 188 minutes, while the next 5 off the bench played a combined 37 minutes. That mission, other than Harley at least getting into the game, wasn't accomplished. Then again, I'm not particularly advocating more bench play as that would've equated to a loss. Further, Treg basically carrying the team with a career night isn't really preparing for next year.

What does playing Buffalo in the MAC Tournament have to do with teams getting into the CBI with losing records??? Your ability to draw a comparison leaves a lot of be desired. A quarter of the teams in the quarterfinals of this thing have losing records. It's a joke.

Ohio is gonna try and buy its way to win this crappy thing. Money will be shelled out round after round to get home games in hopes of hanging a banner to which 75% of the fans in the Convo couldn't even tell you what CBI stands for.

Expand the NCAA field to 128 and get rid of the NIT, CIT, CBI and Vegas 16. In our society of everyone gets a trophy, let everyone in and cut out these sideshows.

Well Saul is now 2-2 in post season with the Bobcats, and very likely to at least go 3-3 just after two seasons.

The CBI appears to be a pretty good simulation of the MAC Tournament.
I feel like teams in this tournament top to bottom (I didn't crunch the numbers) are a lot like the teams in the MAC Tournament. The ultimate goal is to go to the NCAA Tournament, so we pretty much have to win the MAC Tournament to accomplish this.

If we can watch the Bobcats play in March and improve our chances of getting to go to the NCAA Tournament: I will take playing in a third rate tournament any day.

Go Bobcats!!!

After last year, this program could use the extra wins. If Saul could show that he could win 25 in Athens that would be great.
